What is the petition for... so CSM will continue to manage the course, pay the bills and deal with complaining neighbors? They already said no.
If you want to save the course step up and volunteer. Pay for police, permits, insurance, course maintenance such as garbage & management. We know CCS will not spend any money on minor sports like Track & XC (i.e. wanting Toro for free).
Instead of a petition how about donations and a list of volunteers willing to take this on. My guess that’s a much shorter list. Too many are willing to complain but few actually will step up to do the work. Put your money where your mouth is!
IMHO, San Mateo County needs to add this to their park system. https://parks.smcgov.org/
How about "Crystal Springs Wildlife Refuge" Keep it open for the neighborhood walkers, joggers, hikers only. (No mountain bikes, drones, dogs, horses etc.)
The SF Public Utilities Commission owns the property, which is appointed by Mayor London Breed. Should anyone wants to follow up directly, you may contact them at info@sfwater.org or (415) 551-3050. The course is outside Belmont city limits.
I promise you, if it becomes a park it will be closed forever. The hoops to use public parks is part of the issue with holding meets across the system. If it becomes a park it will be the nail in the coffin.
I agree with 6:57PM
These petitions are always useless. They literally get nothing done.
t's just something to make the creator feel like they are doing something while they are not.
What needs to get done is getting done I'm sure.
This will be a travesty if they close it off for XC.
