Congratulations to Jose Pina on a great finish at Footlocker!
That confirms it. Reinhart is a man child.
Grace was actually 9th (she was 10th at States).
hank
Chuck's Army rolls on !!
^Army? 1 person is moving on. And both teams blew up at state.
Congratulations to Grace. Talk about raising your game at the right time. She's run phenomenal times all year, but was always second fiddle to Meeks, Gee, and then Jacobs at CCS. The SCVAL is looking like the SCCAL
3 years ago. A girl who was 2nd in her sub league is headed to Footlocker Nationals. That's pretty good. The 3200 finals in track should be crazy. 5 sub 11 girls, and that's not to mention Aiken the Mt. View gals and the 2 freshman. Escalara, Johnson, and the Allen sisters aren't to bad either. The SCVAL is loaded.
TREVOR IS THE MAN. RESPECT
Is Jose Pina going to nationals???
Toni Finnane, incredible, first year of XC and going to nationals. Has she even won a race the entire season?
Toni Finnane had an incredible season and for a first year runner to make Footlocker Nationals as a senior is mind boggling.
She did not win any races this year. Crazy!
Finnane shows that "talent" trumps "coaching".A self-taught runner coming through Chuck's Army that he can't take any credit for. Also shows that there are many soccer players sitting on the bench that can excel in this sport.
What is all this hate for Chuck and his coaching?? Toni was drawn to Chuck's program and yes, she definitely had the natural talent and drive but she was also coached for a season. She had to work very hard with her teammates, (swim, core, and weights which is part of the Campo program) and it all paid off! Good for her!
Anonymous @ 5:21pm - yes there are plenty of athletes in other sports who would make excellent runners. This has been known for a long time..
As for talent trumping coaching, we'll never know how much of her success this year was due to Chuck. It could have been a little or a lot but he's had success with others.
The bigger question to ask is where is talent thriving despite the coaching? Many programs seem to have an individual succeed while the team consistently performs below par.
I highly doubt there are many soccer players sitting (or standing) anywhere that can run a 5:40 mile, let alone for 3 miles. Toni seems like an incredible and rare kid. Like 5:51 said, good for her! And good for Chuck's Army, which is consistently one of the strongest teams in the state.
Gronk
I Like Chuck
such a shame about Megan Mccandless... was in sixth and then collapsed with 50 meters to go :(
What happened to McCandless? Injured, sick, race anxiety, dehydrated or???
Chuck's "army" is both attributed to talent and his unique coaching style, however, it comes even more from his ability to instill a sense of team unity that helps them drive each other to success.
