That has to be Mel Gray. And no, I didn't cheat. Of course, I will now check after writing this, and if I am wrong, it will be quite embarrassing.
Phew.
Is that Ricky Dynamite of The Prout School?
Yeah I'm sure that's Ricky D
Yeah, the "M" on the singlet and what's clearly the grandstand on the home stretch at Bailey are a dead giveaway. Plus I know what Mel looks like from my dad's yearbooks (did I just date my dad, myself or both?)
I really appreciate the effort Jim put into that list. I think Dan Held deserves to be on there, though. And maybe Jake Arnold.
Agreed.
Jake Arnold definitely deserves to be on that list.
He was a "walk-on" at Arizona, and went from placing 8th in the 300m hurdles and 10th in the pole vault at the State Meet to winning two Pac-10 and two NCAA Championships!
That depends if the list is based on high school success, post high school success or both.
Whenever you make a list like this, there are always going to be..."hey what about so and so?
Any others that belong?
