Good article. He probably would of run the fastest 1600/3200 combo since German Fernandez. State meet will feel a little different now.
NO one should play LAX west of the Mississippi. Lame sport.
Not the first elite runner to choose to be mediocre in another sport. Running hurts and is not for everyone. Some just don't have the fortitude to put in the work to get to the next level.
Uh...I think he had the fortitude, he was a state champ in XC and 2 time Footlocker Invitational.
He is going to the next level and going to run XC, Indoor and Outdoor track in college. You probably should have listened to video.
I personally don't see it as a surprise that Trevor chose to play Lacrosse again. He played the sport his first two seasons in high school and got a very brief taste of the sport last year. Based on what he said in the interview in regards to the track coaching staff as well as having the majority of his friends on the Lacrosse team, it made for a very easy decision.
He will get to show what he can do on the track in college. He's already proven himself in cross country.
Definitely a guy to keep an eye on in college with a lot of upside.
"He probably would of run the fastest 1600/3200 combo since German Fernandez."
There is a big difference between potential and actually pulling something like that off. Blake Haney, one of the most talented runners in some time couldn't even double last year at State.
Reinhart is very talented but has done essentially nothing on the track. What is his PR for the 1600/3200?
My hat goes off to the kids who are actually running sub-9 or sub-4:10 this or any year.
I saw that Reinhart had the highest finish by a Californian at Footlocker since German Fernandez. But you are right sometimes race tactics are different between Track and XC.
Actually Austin Tamagno did beat Reinhart at Footlocker, but Reinhart had a faster California state meet.
I have no respect for decisions like this. His heart isn't in it. He'll be out of the sport in a year.
Kids make their choices…It's up to them what choices they make and they'll be accountable for their choices. What surprises me is that his college coaches aren't saying anything? If it's girls LAX I could understand since they don't really have contact…anyways…again it's up to him.
Yale (like all Ivy league colleges) don't offer athletic scholarships so it is not like the coaches would think it would be a risk for Reinhart to play LAX.
Anyways who cares, don't you take off like 2 weeks after track to recoup for summer mileage. The college coaches already have a summer mileage plan for their runners.
