Why are there like 5 different courses over the same 2 mile loop at Gilden Gate Park? Why doesn't everyone just run the same course and build some history. It doesn't make sense and wod be good for the sport.
I know the BCL teams have used the same course for many years.
the course changed to a slightly more speed friendly course in 2010--the old one was slightly hillier and a bit more technical. Good Times!
I think the old course had a couple of places where the runners crossed each other's paths, which was kind of dangerous.
It looks like the L-W girls were missing three of their top runners in the varsity race, while Urban was missing two of theirs. Makes it hard to predict the favorite for the BCL title from this race.
Why different courses for Jim Tracy, BCL, Lowell Inv, WCAL, etc.
All different. Why?
The Jim Tacy 5 K course is the same for the Bay Countries League championship. The Lowell course is a long time used course. Also the Urban HS course is the same as the Lowell course. At yesterday's meet most teams dropped down their young runners into the Frosh/Soph race. The top Urban runners were sick & Licks two top girls ran Frosh/Soph. Our league is the toughest D5 league in the state for boys & girls. You can thank Jim Tracy & University HS for raising the bar for our league.
