A smart developer could build the fields and not negatively impact the XC course. We should put forward an advocate to work with the developer so he understands the issues, especially the schedule, so nothing is taken away from the XC community.
If you have the removable plastic fences and make sure you don't put any backstops in the middle of the field the starting area should be fine.
