Hi. Do you happen to know the timing company for Rough Rider and whether it will be posting live results? Thanks

The Toro course has been adjusted due to grass restoration in the starting area. Does this mean fast times achieved tomorrow at the Monterey Bay Invite will not count on the all-time lists? They are still calling it a 3 mile race but looking at the new course map, it will likely be a bit short.

The Monterey Bay Course was measured to be 3.0 miles. The finish line was pushed back about 40 meters and the start was deep in the parking lot and stayed wide on the road the first 1/4 mile. Additionally a little distance was made up with a wide turn at the top of the turn before the mile start. I am not the "keeper of records" for Toro and while some courses count records when courses are adjusted (i.e. Mt. Sac), I would not count marks toward all-time marks as it was not the same course.
That said (I know this is a bit of self promotion for North Salinas) but this is my first year on the XC staff and first time at the Monterey Invite. Justin Canau, Richard Green and crew put on an amazing event yesterday... One of the best in CCS I have ever been to. The course felt like a top notch event, from the flagging of the course, to the vendors, DJ, live results with splits from Powers Timing, everything was top notch.
Please join us next year!!
Thanks for the clarification, Josh.

@Josh Small
When you mentioned the course is measured 3.0, did you actually measure it with a wheel?
The reason we ask is because if you move the finish line 40m back, you'll pretty much run into part of the course since there isn't much room back there to push back. Also, the parking lot gravel flat start compared to the long (with holes) grass with a pinpoint semi-U turn is obviously a lot easier to navigate.
Not a keeper of records either but I don't think we should count it since it's almost a completely different course. Just like MT SAC during constructions, I don't believe they are counting those records since Footlocker West last year began at the parking lot. Sadly too since Toro charges a ridiculous amount to run a meet there, not sure how much longer people are going to be holding meets there.

I did not measure it personally, but it was measured with a wheel.
The start was on very loose gravel and a lower elevation. Definately not an easy start, though the pavement is wider and faster running to where they merged onto the dirt trail. As for the finish 40m back, it was just an estimate. Maybe 35m? The chute backed up to the trail heading into the camel humps and swung far right around it before making the turn into the hills.
Again, I am not the record keeper but IMO the changes were enough to not count for any records (but I am a purest that way) but to it was 3.0 miles as outside of the start was essentially the same course.
@Josh Small
Thank you Josh for the clarifications. That's very helpful indeed and thank you for putting together a great meet at Toro to continue racing at that park so we don't lose it! Wishing you and your team all the best for the rest of the season!
Mariner and Farmer invitational have historically been not marked accurately at 3 miles as NCS is. Liam Anderson ran like a 14:15 or something at Mariner and then closer to a 15 flat at NCS.
I think there has been some difference between Mariner and NCS but it's not 45 seconds. I think Liam ran very controlled at NCS which is the reason for the big gap between the two times.
