Former Urban HS runner Cole Williams runs 3:57.88 indoor mile as Georgetown grad student

At the BU Scarlet and White Invite. Cole ran a personal best 1:50.57 as a senior at the California state meet. He finished in 5th place in the final running 1:50.95. After high school, Cole continued to race at Occidental College for one season before transferring to Georgetown University as a sophomore. He ran 3:42.05 at last year's Payton Jordan meet which qualified him for the NCAA meet.

Here is my interview with Cole from 2011:

Very nice indeed. It doesn't look like he competed the 1600 in high school.

Cole Williams is a beast.

Cole ran the 1600 in HS and had a best of 4:27.78 in the mile at the Stanford Invitational. That's what I could find online so very possible that he had a faster time.

Cole had a severe iron deficiency condition in high school, which affected not only
his mile training and racing but also his cross country performances. The decision was made to concentrate on only the 800m in track and monitor cross country training for health reasons.
