Pre-season California Top 10 XC boys

Check out which NorCal boys made the list at this LINK along with Bellarmine senior Meika Beaudoin-Rousseau. An interesting note on Meika is that his 15:09.7 from last year's state meet makes him the 4th fastest CCS runner on that course. Here are the top 3 runners:
Jason Balkman Lynbrook 14:58 1994
Garret Rowe Mt. View 15:03 2008
Garret Rowe Mt. View 15:06 2009
Justin Robison Lynbrook 15:06.4 2015

For those of you wondering, Cate Ratliff (Santa Cruz) holds the CCS record for the girls with her 17:04 in 2015.

Here is the LINK to the top 10 NorCal marks all-time.

One runner that was also very strongly considered was Andrew Hill senior Jorge Estrella. He may still make the top 10 during the season but for now, he is outside the top 10.

Lastly, for those of you that are familiar with the NY site Tully Runners, their national individual rankings have been posted and his top 3 match mine although in a different order. You can view his national boys rankings at this LINK with the girls at this LINK.

4 of top 10 from NorCal and 3 from the CCS! And there are a lot of rising juniors and sophomores who will be pushing into the top 10 next year or by State this year. Great time to be a NorCal distance fan!

I think Cate Ratliff's 17:04 beats out Anna Maxwell's 17:08...

Balkman ran his time winning the west region at Kinney (now footlocker). He didn't run nationals because he already commuted to go to winter formal. Outside of being a star at Stanford he's now a medical doctor who can still throw down 6 min miles.

CCS girls record updated. I should just check my own list for best accuracy. Thanks for catching that.

It would have been interesting to see Maxwell, Ratliff's and Morgan racing against each other! Maxwell won her race by 45 seconds and If I recall behind lead vehicle leaving a huge dust storm for her to breathe in and Ratliff's wins her race in great conditions by 4 seconds, but a record is a record!

Hank still shows as the event manager for the Crystal Springs Invite (Serra) on 10/14/17 on Athletic.net. How sure is everyone that this event is on 10/7? If it is, why is this event still showing on the website? Are teams aware that the date changed before they set their final schedule? This is a big issue if not resolved soon.

Athletic.net creates calendars based on the previous years date. Others can also create events on athletic.net. when a meet normally uses Direct Athletics as their means for athlete entry (which Serra usually does), I will them take meet ownership of that meet if it's on athletic.net (which I have done) and make the beginning date for entries happen well AFTER the meet so that coaches cannot enter any athletes. I also put a memo on that meet stating to talk to the MD to find out how to enter athletes (when nothing has been sent to me to post). I also sent an email out to all of the teams that already put this on their athletic.net calendar to check with the MD for more info. What I suggest doing is look at the 2016 meet flyer for info, it's usually the same with just the date being changed. I know nothing more than that and have not received an updated Crystal Springs calendar from Bob Rush (and I know that 2 dates are incorrect on the existing calendar. But I only post what the officials send me.

Not sure who compiles the NorCal Woodward all-time list, but Mark Mastalir ran 14:53 (not 14:54) and the list is missing Eric Mastalir at 14:57. Both times were run at the Kinney Western Regional in 1985: http://lynbrooksports.prepcaltrack.com/ATHLETICS/XC/1985/kinney_w.pdf

Ron Dimaggio (head coach at Serra) has confirmed that the Crystal Springs Invite, hosted by Serra, will happen on OCTOBER 7, as Albert has posted here before...that I believe is the definitive, because Ron is MD! Any confusion will continue to be cleared up between now and the meet date 2.5 months from now!

Just wanted to make some corrections to the all-time list for NorCal runners at Woodward: Mark Mastalir ran 14:53 (not 14:54) in 1985 and twin brother Eric Mastalir ran 14:57, both at Kinney regional. See link here from Hank's site: http://lynbrooksports.prepcaltrack.com/ATHLETICS/XC/1985/kinney_w.pdf
