You ever noticed how there's never any local coverage about cross country from the Sacramento Bee? Which I don't have to tell anyone is probably one of the larger papers in Northern California. Which not only could cover teams from Davis to Oak Ridge, from Modesto to Yuba City... When I cancelled my subscription to the Sac Bee I specified that it was solely because of its lack of track/xc coverage - despite many attempts to help them cover both sports.

Pretty hard not to notice that Jason. Of course, you then have the Santa Rosa Press Democrat which covers XC so well.

Coaches just need to keep sending in results to their local papers and mention any of their athletes that could be part of a good newspaper article.

It really helps that the Press Democrat supports a web location for posting information that is not necessarily in the print version. It allows them to provide full stats on events (at least as full as the coaches provide). Too bad other papers with a web presence do not do the same. www.pressdemocrat/running
You would think other publications would get a clue. I visit the PD's website much more often than I would just because this information is available. Can you say advertising opportunities??
