I just wanted to look at results on my computer, but it wants me to buy an app for my phone or ipad. I'm not using those right now. So I can't look at results on my computer?
Never mind--found results through milesplit.
I totally understand wanting everything free, but to be fair, the app is 99 cents. I got almost all the same data from the web site, but kicked in to support their efforts to bring the content to the XC loving public. Site like crosscountryexpress, prepcaltrack, etc., seem to be labor's of love, I am sure a small contribution toward their efforts would not be unwelcome. And no, I have zero affiliation with those or any other sites, but they do provide the vast majority of the data I am able to review regarding HS XC in our state.
Cate Ratliff!!!!!!!!!
The Aptos girls missed the all-time team time by 3 seconds!
The Santa Cruz girls were missing their number two runner. With Mari Friedman they would have easily placed second.
But, again....CATE RATLIFF was incredible...16:42!
It wasn't a matter of paying the 99 cents, which I would have happily done--it wanted me to buy an app for my phone or ipad, but I was on a PC for which it said "cannot find device."
The Jesuit boys have a lot to be proud of as well. 3rd place amongst that stacked field at Clovis is quite an accomplishment. Their 78:57 team time puts them #47 on the all time Woodward Park list and (2nd overall on the day), the fastest time in their storied school history and the fastest team time in Sac Joaquin Section history on a day with less than perfect conditions and a couple of runners who were a little off their best. This from a team who didn't even make it to state last year.
Anyone know why Fiona O'keeffe didn't toe the line?
Jesuit and Vista Del Lago boys definitely represented SJS well at Clovis. Bella Vista boys could of done better. Last chance to see state quality competition before the postseason starts...
Any Castro Valley Results yet?
I am trying to hunt the Castro Valley results down. They will be posted ASAP.
Don't know when official results will be posted for CV yet. Most likely to be found here or athletic.net. Just off the top of my head:
Barich from Casa Grande ran 19:57 to win Var Girls. Salazar from Casa Grande ran 16:18 to win Var Boys. Team wise, I think CG girls took it and Northgate boys maybe in varsity. A few teams were resting runners (Santa Rosa, Campo) or were at Clovis (DLS, Las Lomas).
Fiona O'Keeffe as well as Nelson Quintana of Great Oak were on college recruiting trips today.
2 of top 4 and 4 of top 21 were sophs at Crystal Springs. Going to be fun to watch that class run.
That is not true. Nelson Quintana beat me at Clovis today.
My bad, it was Isaac Cortes who was missing from Great Oak.
Bella Vista Invitational will have some good racing next weekend--Jesuit, Davis, Bella Vista, Assumption (Kentucky), St Francis, Clovis North.
Post 5:42, after looking at the results on Dyestatcal, where they have the years next to them, it also looked like a Freshman placed 10th. So it will be a very interesting the next few years those two class's run.
9:39 BV Invitational is usually good, but I believe some seniors will be on recruiting trips, which will impact team performances. Several teams were training at Willow Hill this morning, that course is a beast (no flat golf course there), but great for spectating.

D3 action heating up in CCS. Riordan clearly #1 taking down Saratoga. Aptos looks good with 4 sophomores at 17 flat. Those three look to be a lock for state spots. Law looked real good running 15:52!
Yah buddy riordan hitting the charts. Glad to see hard work and focus paying off for these boys
The BV Invitational is only a money grab and a horribly run meet. Last year the varsity start times were posted on Athletic.net but were wrong, apparently coaches needed to check their personal BV website, who knew? Many runners showed up an hour before their races started only to miss the start of their race. Then, they had tons of race overlap and collisions on the dam or finger loop. Many students were injured. BV has a decent team this but they do not know how to run a meet. Many schools are not returning this year which is bad since they have a lot of good competition. BV's days on top are numbered, even in D2. Enjoy the ride and money while you can.
@ 2:53. Don't get too excited, Aptos and Satatoga didn't even run the auto time. Only one team can hit the standard? Must be nice to be D3!
I am just the parent of a runner (and our team did not go to BV last year) but it was a little crazy in cases where two races were on the course at the same time. It looks like the schedule is a little different this year with all the short races (2.1 miles) followed by the 5ks. As long as they have the section championships there, teams are going to want to have a preview, especially if they are not in one of the leagues that has their league meet at Willow Hill. I haven't experienced the meet from the perspective of a coach, so can only assume your experience was not an anomaly. I could be wrong, but they give nice medals and rent Willow Hill from Folsom HS, so I don't figure they are getting rich off the meet.
BVs days on top are numbered? I think it is a stretch to say they are on the downside due to an inability to run a meet up to your standards. Their girls are just as strong as last year and their freshman crop from last year won the section championship with 23 points, so they are still developing good talent in numbers. I will say that after having watched the usual section powers continue to dominate, it's nice to see programs like Vista Del Lago taking their place up with the big teams.
Speaking as the volunteer coordinator for several years, the BV Invite is not “a money grab.” It is a fundraiser to try to support our team, which has grown exponentially over the past few years. The Folsom PTA charges for parking which we have no control over, but entry fees are on par with other meets. We have close to 100 volunteers at the meet to try to make it a success—so we are working hard for those dollars, but happily so. We are proud to put on a good meet, and coaches and athletes continuously give us positive feedback.
As the meet has grown, the practice of running races simultaneously has become more difficult and crowd management on the dam where teams cross in opposite directions has become a little trickier, but I don’t believe athletes have been injured any more than at a typical meet (a couple of our athletes had twisted ankles at other meets—just a factor in XC racing).
We hire an EMT company to be on hand (our most common issue is asthma attacks). Nonetheless, this year for the first time we will not be running races simultaneously. I don’t know where you come up with “many teams are not returning” as most are, and we have to limit the entries.
As to our “days on top”—we take what we can get. Our kids enjoy being on the team and work hard, we are proud of our successes, and every good race is a gift. We enjoy wins, but we enjoy sportsmanship more.

Well said Selena!
All invitationals are fundraisers for the host schools. As those invitationals get bigger and bigger, meet management will usually have to make adjustments due to larger fields. That is just part of the process. If you attend such a meet and you feel there are issues, you have two choices. One is you don't attend the meet or two, you contact management and share your thoughts now how to make the meet better. Just like any good business they will listen to your suggestions, thank you for your input and more than likely make the appropriate changes.
Dumb comments from Anonymous @ 7:36.
There are more teams registered this year than last year (or ever). If you want to be competitive on the SJS section champs course, your team is going to be at this last invite before league. I have volunteered for the meet in previous years and don't remember any significant problems. I think dropping the middle school races was a good idea to control the chaos.
That being said, they did have some issues last year with trying to rush through races, which caused two races being run at same time and potential collisions on top of the dam. The course is not designed like Mt SAC where you can run anything simultaneously. I think they will learn their lesson this year. There were probably a few more injuries on my son's team than usual, but that is a consequence of the course...not meet management.
As Albert said, feedback is a good thing. Bella Vista has a strong, deep team and is a far cry from the 90's when at times there was only 1 or 2 varsity boys runners.
Thank you Albert and Bill. I sort of enjoyed the simultaneous races when it was manageable--made it exciting to watch. But it has become too big to swing that if races don't go off at very specific times. We have learned. We encourage constructive criticism! There is always room for improvement.
Lastly, it's true we're losing most of our varsity girls next year and a rare thing to get that much talent at one time. But we have a lot of developing talent among both the boys and girls. Only time will tell. The coaching and the participation level are excellent, which I imagine will lead to good things. As a 7-year parent with the team, I couldn't be more pleased with our family's experience.
What is the rule for substituting runners on a team? My daughter didn't run at Clovis and someone took her place but the results which aren't all that good are showing up with a time for her. Shouldn't the coach have taken care of this?
Most events (up to the post season) allow for runners to be switched up to a drop dead date (which sometimes goes all the way to packet pick up). If there were changes to the roster submitted ahead of time, typically it would be requested that the meet officials be notified of this change prior to the event. I had a similar experience with my son and there was actually a problem with the meet giving him the wrong number, which took about 2 weeks to rectify. I would let the coach know since all of that data gets transferred to xcstats (if they participate there), athletic.net, etc.
Clovis Invitational was not taking any changes the day of the meet. That was made very clear to the coaches. The results are out there and almost impossible to fix at this point. It's not a big deal and does happen periodically unless the other runner was ineligible for academic or behavior reasons.
At $11 an entry and limited space if an athlete tells a coach last minute they can't go to a meet it puts the coach and the program in a tough spot. I would recommend next time if your daughter is not able to make a meet to tell their coach way ahead of time. Meets like this fill up in August and coaches have to act early just to get in.

What happened to Tamalpais Girls team? Where does that put them in NCS D3 rankings?
I was wondering the same thing...just guessing here, but their results right now might put them at 6th or 7th in NCS as of now
