Excellent CCS races at Toro this past weekend. Only thing I missed were were the great concessions and latino music from early bird. Congratulations to all athletes, coaches and volunteers!
WoW! SF torched the record twice in one season!!!!!! Way to go boys! Go get them in Fresno. Best news is that the team only has one senior (#1) and and their 2-7 guys run better every race. BEST CCS team in history!!!
Shouldn't Santa Cruz Girls 95:31 put them in the #3 spot for Girls?
...or on closer inspection, I guess they just list each team once with their best time, even if they have other times that would put them in the top 10 team list.
Ya, I only list the school record time... I guess as Toro is used more and more it would be cool to have more comprehensive lists including all top teams plus grade level lists along with deeper overall lists... Anyone want to get on that? If not, I will just keep these lists going like I've done for quite some time...
Another resource is the XCStats All-CA database. If you're not a subscribing coach or athlete, you can get a free Guest Pass to access it. Subscribers just go here.
The database has many search options, including by athlete, by course, by event and by number of standard deviations from the mean. Hours of fun!
You'll see a few differences between Gus's list and what's in our database:
* We're fairly complete back to 2005 or so, but nothing before that. Gus's goes back further.
* We go 100 deep on the teams, 300 deep on the individual. But, the same individual and teams are listed multiple times in ours, whereas Gus's list is showing the top time for each school.
* For all-time team records, I think Gus's list is taking the top 5 times for each school at a given meet even if they were not in the same race, whereas we are only showing the actual race results. I think Bellarmine's 2015 result of 80:09 is an example of this.
In other words, our db will be substantially different.
Mike
Yes, and some out of the area teams such as Madera South and West Torrance may only come to Earlybird and I like to recognize their efforts with the combined team times for our meet... Plus it's a a great measuring stick for our CCS teams! It puts that new St Francis mark in perspective! Looking forward to their showdown with Dublin at state and a possible NXN bid for a CCS school!
