I'm sure you've noticed, but for anyone who hasn't, for the CCS results, the paces seem to be inaccurate. It seems like they are paces for 5k times and not 3 mile times, as Toro is a 3 mile c ourse

Regardless the course was longer today. The start line was pushed back and they wrapped around the tree near the finish.

On another note putting the timing mat for the splits by the tree branch as the runners veered to a new finish was not good, lots of runners stopped here. Yes it was announced but the kids are tired. Should have been placed past finish for a second lap split.

Small details but a great meet nonetheless.

The Homestead girls set a new Toro Park course record today. The Aptos girls lowered it by another 28 seconds a few hours later.

The Aptos girls won their division by 105 points, I wonder how they'll do at the state meet.

It is so sad to see the Carlmont boys lack a fifth runner. Times must be tough at a former power house team. Impressive victories by SI boys and Aptos girls. Congrats to Albert guiding his teams to victory. The girls team looked sharp.

SJS had a couple of shockers today with Bella Vista girls eclipsing Davis for D1 section title and St Francis holding on for last State berth. Davis dominated the boys race and Granite Bay team held a good pack of runners to claim the 2nd state berth. The other shocker was Jesuit not making the state meet which has to be a letdown with their potential and high state ranking.

Any other year the Aptos girls might win the State title, but this year in Div 3 are the 3rd & 4th ranked teams in the State. A 3rd place finish for the Aptos girls would be quite an accomplishment. Who knows, if they run as well as they did in their league meet (and section) they could finish higher. It's already been a great season for them.

I agree that a 3rd place finish at state in Division III would be a tremendous accomplishment for Aptos. Campolindo and Palos Verdes are the clear class of the field right now but they will still will run the race and let the kids decide the result.

Great to see some new teams doing well these days. Aptos has always traditionally been a power, but it surprises me to see Homestead and Monta Vista doing better than schools like Gunn and Carlmont which were traditional powerhouses just a few years ago!

Really? Both Homestead and Monta Vista have long histories of success in cross country. The Monta Vista girls were one of the best teams in CCS during the early 2000s and the Homestead boys have multiple CCS team titles.

I am really surprised that no one caught the shattering of the girls course record at Willow Hills by Fiona O'Keeffe. 16:57 on this course generally used to be only in the realm of the top five Varsity Boys. It will be something to see what Fiona may do on the State Course this year...hopefully in "prime" shape and health.

@Bill not that "shocking" that BV girls beat Davis, considering Davis lost 2/5 runners due to injuries at the league championships.

Yes, but there was a period of time before this new group where Carlmont absolutely dominated D1 and Gunn has always been stellar. If we want to go back far (to when Monta Vista was one of the best teams), the Milpitas girls were also very good... too bad no such comeback from them.
