Laawson and Maxwell the best. End of thread.
ReplyDeleteGabe Arias SJND has been injured but don't count out the DV course record holder.
ReplyDeleteUnsure how you can leave off Sarah Robinson from Gunn. Lawson for sure.
ReplyDeleteBrain cramp. Robinson has been added.
ReplyDeleteAny others?
I love all the rankings stuff, both individual and team - it makes for fun conversation and generates interest in the sport. I've only seen a few of these runners compete, but it's great fun to watch them.
ReplyDeleteHere's an interesting thing to look for: Teams that are ranked but have no runners in the top 15 (or top 20 or 25 or whatever)....
Faith Makau of Enochs in the SJS (D1)
ReplyDeleteNielson Powless at Roseville High (SJS). At least an honorable mention.
ReplyDeleteVarsity Girls (SJS) results from Yolo Co. Championships are posted on Red Cap Timing website.
ReplyDeleteVarsity Boys (SJS)are next.
i want to see blair hurlock and john lawson go head to head
ReplyDeletegarbage
ReplyDeleteThis is in response to Marty Beene's earlier post asking for a list of ranked teams w/o ranked runners. I would nominate Las Lomas girls. In three meets the top 5 have been in the top 5%, 10%, and 6% of runners in the event. If you go down to top 6 runners they are top 6%, 27% and 9%. (Full disclosure - I'm a Las Lomas grandpa)
ReplyDeleteWriting garbage in a comment doesn't really help us identify the top runners in Northern California. If you disagree with my choices, feel free to include runners that think belong on the list and please include your name next time. Mine is included with all my posts and comments.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Since the heading is "Top NorCal Individual Runners..." and it doesn't specify that they must be in HS, I'm going to throw out Julia Bounds (Priory, CCS, 8th) name. She had the fastest time (guys & gals combined) at the Priory meet last week with a 5:37 avg over a hilly 1.35mi course (non-pressed as you can imagine). If she runs FootLocker West, she would be my dark horse pick.
ReplyDeletehank
seems like Christine Bayliss should be on the list
ReplyDeleteAnnie Margraff of Acalanes? Won DFAL league meet and was 5th at DLS behind 3 St Francis runners. JimS
ReplyDeleteGoltra?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the real story on Goltra.?
ReplyDeleteHe transferred to Campolindo HS. He will be eligible to race October 1st.
ReplyDeleteMiranda Myers, St. Francis High School (Sacramento), Sophomore, should be on the list too.
ReplyDeleteTrevor Reinhart is looking pretty good too
ReplyDeleteNCS DV is gonna be a showdown this year:
ReplyDeleteTrevor Reinhart vs Connor Clark vs Gabe Arias
18 girls in the top 15...and counting ;-)
ReplyDeleteRaymond Meijer of Bellarmine
ReplyDeleteI think Maxwell should be #1...although I'm happy to see Diribe thought so highly of.
ReplyDeleteNCS DV should be a showdown, and SJND has another solid contender in Louis Rodrigues.
ReplyDeleteI meant Julia Maxwell by the way...more thoughts -
ReplyDeleteDidn't O' Keeffe beat Derry early on in the season head-to-head? That should put her higher up and higher than Derry. Can't find much other fault with this. We'll see how things shake out in the coming weeks.
Boys - I have no clue. Too many quality runners with no true superstars (like German level or even Luna/Rowe) rising up yet.
Everybody is listed in alphabetical order.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a Great race With both Maxwell's Watched her at Toro and her 17:28 converts to around 17:21 on Woodward, then competed against her at RLS and she went thru 5:04 the first Mile! They Both can be 1,2 in Northern Cal either way!
ReplyDeleteI met Anna Maxwell from SLV!
ReplyDeleteOnce Neilson Powless at Roseville High School(SJS) triathlon season is over and focuses on running only, look for him to be in the hunt.
ReplyDeleteI would agree that Faith Makau (Enochs, SJS) should be on the list. She beat Estrada, Bilo, Myers, Larocco at Woodward park last year, made it to State track finals in the 1600 last spring and is running well this season.
ReplyDeletejohn lawson has a very good shot at making footlocker nationals if he decides to run footlocker west (i dont think he did last year). yohannes estifanos, connor clark, and blair hurlock might have a shot but its a slim one. should be interesting to see how things unfold in the postseason
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on with Rory Beyer and Christian Pedro? Is Pedro still injured? Havnt seen anything from them this season yet.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Moore of St. Mary's looked pretty darn strong at the Farmer Invitational this past weekend. I can't find the results online, but she won easily.
ReplyDeletePaul Holden from Ukiah looked very strong setting the course record at Yolo Championships this past weekend.
ReplyDeleteJack Scranton from Davis slowly coming back from injury this past spring -- look forward to seeing him run at Stanford.
Paul Holden is definitely on the list. Jack Scranton, once healthy, is definitely one of the top runners in NorCal. Before he was injured in track, Scranton ran 8:41.07 at Stanford winning the slower heat of the 3k to finish 2nd overall behind only Luis Luna. He came back the next day and won the mile in 4:17.04. Definitely a name to follow in the next month or so.
ReplyDeleteRory Beyer is is injured!Christian Pedro's plantar fasciitis still won't heal properly. It's been 10 months.
ReplyDeleteSpencer ran 18:22
ReplyDeletePianin ran a meet record time of 17:37 to beat a couple formidable Trabucco Hills runners at Scott Bauhs.
ReplyDeleteMoore ran 17:45 at the NCS meet last year on the same course so she is definitely on the radar.
ReplyDeletePianin finished 5th at the state meet in Division I last season so that should speak for itself.
NO way that Ryan Douglas or Paul Holden are ahead of Drake's John Lawson. What are you thinking people!!

ReplyDeleteI believe they are in alphabetical order.

Sarah Baxter moving up to D1 puts a damper on Pianin's individual championship prospects
ReplyDeleteIs this D-1 only If not Mikayla Florez Riverbank had a geat year. D-4
