West Coast XC EP 25 State Meet Previews

  1. The CIF should consider moving the entire track season to end sooner. There are a number of athletes that have to decide whether to compete in the State Meet, or participate in their graduation. High school athletes should not have to make that decission. The track season is far too long as it is. Many states complete their season in early to mid May. California should consider doing the same. Not to mention the high temperatures that you could face in Clovis in June vs. May.

  2. CIF already moved up the majority of state meets up a week. This school year, everything has been pushed back a week. You remember how late Thanksgiving was this year. No matter where you put the state meet, you are going to run into conflicts other than graduation. You have proms, APs and all sorts of events that many students have to navigate at the end of the school year.

  3. Hold the State meet on a Monday/Tuesday schedule. I don't think I have ever heard of a High School graduation on those days of the week but I could be wrong.

  4. The winter sports end late, track starts then. To make the season shorter the XC model would need to be implemented to eliminate dual meets.

  5. Our graduation is on a Tuesday. I don't think we will ever see the state meet on any other days but Friday and Saturday.

  6. Indiana's State meet is next weekend, Oregon and Washington are the same weekend as California, New York are in mid-June. CA should have pushed the spring season back a week this year.

  7. The Fall and Spring sports seasons for CCS are both 12 weeks long. Winter goes over 13-15 due to the winter holiday break.
