As always, I listen and will make changes if I made a mistake in terms of where the above teams are ranked. Please show proof of recent results. I do however try to project a bit so some teams may be ranked based on potential down the road. Did I leave anybody out that deserves to be ranked?

We will definitely have a clearer picture this weekend after the Crystal Springs Invitational and Clovis.

  1. Dougherty Valley boys - top five 15:20-15:32 at Woodbridge, sixth at 15:34, seventh 16:00; won the rated race, 21st fastest team in entire meet; ahead of Maria Carillo, Monte Vista. 2nd team at Farmer's (16:08 avg) behind Dublin, ahead of Lick Wilmerding. 15:40-15:56 top 5 in season opening scrimmage against Cal/De La Salle.

Dougherty Valley girls - top five 17:06, 17:22, 17:53, 18:08, 18:56 at Woodbridge; 14th fastest team in entire meet - team time just 8 seconds slower than St Francis, ahead of Menlo Atherton, Maria Carillo, Team winner at Farmer's (18:55 avg). 17:40-19:31 avg 18:31 in scrimmage vs Cal/Carondelet

Hard to see how they didn't warrant inclusion on both lists...

  2. I am positive I missed a few teams so will add Dougherty Valley to both lists.

Are there any other teams that should be included?

  4. Vacaville should probably be a lot higher considering they had 5 under 15:30 (beating Dougherty) at Woodbridge and have beaten Jesuit and Davis.

  5. Agree on Vacaville - 14:54, 15:12, 15:15, 15:19, 15:29 at Woodbridge. They were my pick for top team in Norcal.

  6. I also think Lick-Wilmerding should be higher. Palo Alto averaged above 17 on a 5k course recently and Monte Vista averaged 5:17 at the Woodbridge 3 mile whereas Lick averaged 5:19 on a historically slow 2.95 course.

  7. Appreciate all the comments. I will update both lists after Clovis as many of these teams will get to compete against each other and it will be very clear who is ahead of who.

  8. A lot of variables to consider. Vacaville will hope to have Kellen Steplight back by the end of the season. Jesuit has not yet run with their full compliment of runners (they were missing their #1 and #3 runners at Lagoon Valley). Feeling that a lot of things will shake out by Clovis.

  9. Definitely Daniel. These are way too early rankings and we will have a better idea about a lot of teams after Clovis.
