Former Westmont HS runner Jason Gomez rolling at Iowa St.

Jason Gomez, Westmont HS '18 ran for Notre Dame de Namur before their program folded last year. He is now attending Iowa State and has been posting some really fast times indoors.

A week ago, Jason recorded his personal best in the 800m. with a time of 1:47.02. Some of you might remember that Gomez was the California state champion in the 800m with a PR of 1:50.21. You can check out a description of his new 800m. PR at this LINK.

This past Saturday, Iowa St. ran 9:27.90 in the Distance Medley Relay as they finished in 2nd place behind the record-setting University of Oregon team. Gomez led off the relay with a 2:49.83 leg for the 1200m. You can read all about that effort at this LINK.

  2. Thank you for the article on Jason.
It's great to see him running so well at Iowa State.
He's put in an incredible amount of work over the years
and, through a number of ups, downs, and perseverance,
he's now competing at a new, rarefied level of running.
His actual 1200 time on their DMR was 2:49.43(the Oregon
runner was at 2:49.83) which was one of the top 1200
    times ever run indoors.
Jason is very deserving of all the attention he's now receiving,
mainly because he's worked so tirelessly to get there.
My hope is this is the beginning of many more outstanding performances
    for Jason.

  4. This afternoon Jason had another impressive race, he recorded a 2:19.11 for the 1000m indoor. This time sets the school record for Iowa State and is the all-time collegiate #3 mark.

  5. I can't figure out whether the 800, 1000 or 1200 was the most impressive...all are incredible (although us Warriors knew he had the talent). Next put him up against Cooper in the 1600 ;)
