It's the first week of October, the early signing period has not happened yet and it's way to soon for early admission so what's the deal?
ReplyDeleteThe early signing period begins on November 13 for most sports (including XC), but any student athlete who receives an offer can make a verbal/non-binding commitment to sign when it becomes official. Some students like to do this when they get an offer from their first choice and want the school/coach to know they are serious and want to go there.
ReplyDeletewow - congrats to all. some very good schools on that list
ReplyDeleteGo Bears!
Garcia from St. Francis going to join his former teammate Kumar. That should give Cal a few low sticks in a couple of years. Go Bears!
ReplyDeletedoesnt look like Kumar has raced, or is even on their online roster this season
ReplyDeletemaybe he left the program with the coaching turnover? cant find where Houlihan went either
Maybe Kumar is injured? If you redshirt, are you typically listed on the roster or taken off for that year?
ReplyDeleteCal has not had many low sticks in the last few decades :-)
ReplyDeleteClaire Yerby from Half Moon Bay committed to Cal
ReplyDeleteMichelle Louie (Menlo) - Middlebury
ReplyDeleteAre these verbals confirmed? I know some are listed on Mile Split USA college signing website or are these based on Anonymous 'postings'?
ReplyDeleteThey have been confirmed.
ReplyDeleteAiden Maddison (Saint Francis) - Sacramento State
ReplyDeleteAiden Maddison committed to sac state
ReplyDeleteAustin Vasquez (Whitney SJS) UC Davis
ReplyDeleteGarrett Macquiddy (Westmont) UC Berkeley
ReplyDeleteMacquiddy to Cal
ReplyDeleteEuan Cairns to Wake Forest
ReplyDeleteEthan Mimeles (Menlo Atherton) Elon University
ReplyDeleteGordon and Strangio will be announcing their decisions tomorrow morning
ReplyDeleteStrangio to Portland
ReplyDeleteAustin Vasquez(whitney) to UC Davis
ReplyDeleteRio Americano's Sophia Karperos has verbally committed to Yale (Ivy Leagues don't offer athletic scholarships, but she has committed to attend and run there).
ReplyDeleteThank you. Everybody has been added.
ReplyDeleteIf anybody knows of any others, please add them to the comment section and I will continue to add to the list.
Colton Swinth, Cal Poly SLO
ReplyDeleteI think Matt Strangio's decision on U of Portland is VERY VERY SMART!!
ReplyDeleteHe's going to make Rob Conner's recruiting efforts easier over the next few years.
Vasquez is listed twice
ReplyDeleteI was under the impression Malcolm Clemons was no longer at St. Marys?
ReplyDeleteNow that you mentioned it, I believe that is correct. I remember reading something at the beginning of the year that he was transferring to a prep school back east.
ReplyDeleteyep posted on your website too! Some prep school in Florida

Lyle Rumon (Marin Catholic) - Cal Poly SLO

ReplyDeleteWould be awesome if the Cal commits were all formatted the same way
ReplyDeleteKendall Mansukhani [Half Moon Bay HS]- Baylor

ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by " Would be awesome if the Cal commits were all formatted the same way"?
Sarah Perry (Woodside) - UC Davis
ReplyDeleteZeno Castiglioni (Davis Sr.) - UC San Diego
ReplyDeleteWhat California school do you all think has the best recruiting class so far?
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked across all schools but Cal, Davis and SLO make an interesting comparison. They tend to recruit locally and each has 4 boys that I know of (all CA) that have committed so far... and the schools are often compared.
ReplyDeleteCal: JP Garcia, Garrett MacQuiddy, Cole Sawires-Yager, Carrick Denker
UCD: Alex Cuevas, Isaiah Galindo, Austin Vasquez, Nick Salz
SLO: Lyle Rumon, Anthony Guerra, Jack Gray, Colton Swinth
Comparing PRs, Cal would take the 4x800, 4x1600 and DMR. Davis has an edge if you ran 4x3200. It would (will) be a really fun XC race to watch all 12 of them at Capital Cross or GG Park next year. SLO has consistently recruited under the existing staff, UCD's young staff definitively stepped up from the past and the new coaches at Cal have taken a big step back up to where it should always be.
Mia Marsh (Cal High) - University of San Diego
ReplyDeleteMatt Teupel will be high jumping next year at Renssalaer Polytechnic in Troy, NY
ReplyDeleteJulian Jensen (Bishop O Dowd) Humboldt State
ReplyDeleteLindsey Gigliello: Cornell University
ReplyDeletePeter Levine, Urban School of SF: Cornell University
ReplyDeleteCaveli Hensley whitney high school(rocklin) UC Davis. Jumps
ReplyDeleteSimomme Alunan Urban- NYU
ReplyDeleteParker Emerson, University SF, University of Chicago
ReplyDeletePaloma Hancock, Campolindo, Johns Hopkins
ReplyDeleteAlicia Hober, Campolindo, Colby College (Maine)
ReplyDeleteAmir Barkan - Occidental College
ReplyDeleteKayla Penny, San Lorenzo Valley, Humboldt State University
ReplyDeleteTianna Bumbaca-Kuehl, San Lorenzo Valley, Mount Marty College (South Dakota)
ReplyDeleteSamantha Brackett, San Lorenzo Valley, Chico State
Zachary Parker, Lowell High School (SFS) - UC Santa Barbara

ReplyDeleteCayden Hein, Campolindo, Cal Poly
ReplyDeleteKyle Elias, Dublin High school, University of Nevada Reno
ReplyDeleteChristopher Middleton-Pearson, Dublin High School, Oklahoma State University
ReplyDeleteJoey Souto-Whitney High School. Cal Poly
ReplyDeleteseems odd (and a little disrespectful to the other runners) to skip other comment entries and leave them off the master list but to post Middleton Pearson.
