  1. Looks like the 1600 boys race is loaded. I wish Liam was running fresh so that we could see what he really could do on fresh legs.

  2. The boys 1600 is loaded. I would like to see Anderson run it fresh so we can see what he can really do.

  3. How do they invite DMR? Do they have to have published marks this season? I didnt know my sons team even ran a DMR yet...

  4. Coaches make up times they think they can run. Not unlike the old days when coaches would fib marks to get into a meet. If your kid got in without running this year that means the coach knows the sweet spot. Not too fast to get flagged but enough to get in. Congrats!

  5. Actually, marks from last season can be used for qualification. PB times and distances are listed on Athletic.net and used for verification. Very difficult to use a mark that is not verifiable.

  6. Until Stanford verifies every mark, some coaches will continue to try to get their athletes into the meet with questionable marks. At this point, the lone repercussion is that their athletes and/or relay teams might get embarrassed when it becomes very apparent that they do not belong in the meet.

  7. Simply posting the seed times with the entries would alleviate some of the shenanigans.

  8. Agreed. That 1600 field is stacked! Should be fun.

  9. There WILL be a new 1600 meet record for boys.

  10. Are you counting mile conversions? Or just a yearnof 1600 times as meet record?

  11. They are not running the mile anymore at Stanford so that record won't be touched. The current 1600 record for Alex Scales will be surpassed by multiple runners this year.

  12. Why not convert the mile record to 1600?

  13. Could be done (as I've done for the CCS top 100 list) but I like the idea of seeing a record broken so I'm keeping them separate, BUT if Stanford wants to convert then so be it.

  14. Albert,
I believe Eduardo Herrera holds the record not Alex Scales.

  15. I believe last year was the first year they switched to the 1600m so since Scales won last year, he is the meet record holder.

  16. Albert: Nice hanging out during the epic womens' 10 K last night...in CCS alumni news, Meika Beaudoin-Rousseau finished 39th out of 106 at the IAAF World Junior (U-20)Championships today in Aarhus, Denmark. He was 3rd American (out of 6), and first former CCS! He ran 26:35 on the amazing 4 lap course--a hilly, very twisty course which included water, mud and sand pits, with logs across the course (intentionally) and a loop around the grass covered roof of a modern building that sits in the center of the all dirt-and-grass trailed course!! Of note, Meika--who is of French-Canadian descent--outleaned both the first French team runner and his future Stanford teammate, Canadian champ Evan Burke!!
