  15. I think this is just for D1 scholarship commits.
John Hopkins is D3 (non-athletic scholarship)

  16. It’s for all announcements whatever the division. People just want to know where the kids are going.

  17. In addition to the the comment from 6:51 above, I would guess that most of the kids on the list who are going to D1 schools are either not getting a scholarship or are getting a minimal amount (lowest level is books). It's the balance that every kid has to work out for themselves - small fish big bowl (low scholarship); large fish small bowl (either bigger scholarship, or help getting into more academic school only). Either way, its great to see so many of our NorCal kids going on to run in college. Good luck to everyone!

  18. If you look at the standards for scholarships that I posted last week, I think you can surmise that very few athletes get athletic scholarships. I think they still might get financial help in some ways but for the most part, their athletic success is able to get them into a great university.

  24. Chico State should be on the list. They are basically D2 and kick quite a few D1 team's butts at invitational.

  45. Andre Williams, D5 State Champ, Columbia

A state champion headed for an Ivy League school, Andre Williams has it all covered as he wraps up a stellar career at Sonoma Academy. After bursting onto the state scene as a sophomore and improving as a junior, Andre was the best runner of all in the NCS Division 5 race at the CIF-State cross country meet last fall, bringing home a state title. He’s shining this spring, winning league titles in the 800 and 3,200 meters in track and field. Meanwhile, his academic record is impeccable, with a 3.91 overall GPA that includes an AP classload. He plays piano and string instruments, too. He’s taking all that to the Ivy League and Columbia University, where he’ll continue his running career while pursuing a degree in, as he puts it, something that makes other people feel good. ~press democrat
