    The Denner twins times were pretty fast on that course, but it looked like their coach had them hang just behind the front pack until they went through mile 1 in 6:20, and then they took off. Good first run of the season.

    Coach Gus, great meet again...SUMMARY --> SANTA CRUZ GIRLS! Lol ;)

    Conditions were perfect for racing...

    Even though I wasn't surprised with Meika BR running a solid time (15:17) but I was a bit surprised to only see that being the only sub 15:35 boys time. WG boys did a lot better this time around. Congrats to them.

    Again on the girls side, Santa Cruz was the headliner. All top 6 girls sub 19:45 and rankers still have them behind Aptos and Homestead in CCS...they are hitting the delete button BIG TIME. Another great run by Joyce Shea and glad to see Marea Z healthy again!

    Great Meet again Coach Gus and co. and RIP Jackie... :(

    I'll ask the obvious question - What happened to the Junior Boys results from Earlybird? There were definitely more than 95 runners in the race.

    Bellarmine wasn't even the fastest at Toro today. That honor goes to Willow Glen.

    Shots Fired. I think based on WG running faster today we can all agree the Early Bird course is the shorter course.

      That would be a fact! We had to move the start line up a few feet to safely start with massive field sizes... We had three different starting lines and it seemed to work without any major incidents on the first turn.. Go ahead and add 2-3 seconds on your time if you want! :) Unless you want to take away time for the thick sandy course conditions... Or add time for our traditional straight shot finish instead of going around the last tree (no room for fans at Earlybird)... Or add time since we had perfect weather and a tail wind... Haha... I guess my point is that people need to just enjoy the races and realize it's high school cross country... Not the olympics... By the way, at Toro Park we used to have a longer course as runners made a right turn and then a sharp left on the first road crossing adding a good 10 seconds or so... We don't hear much noise from kids who set records back then... Just run baby :) there's my rant and I'm sticking to it...haha

    What does a shorter course by 2-3 seconds have anything to do with WG running faster? Let's face it... there are a lot of Bellarmine fanboys on this site that can't handle that a public school could beat a private school with 3x the amount of athletes. For me, it's nice to see a public school take out Bellarmine.

    Can I recommend using chip timing in the athlete bibs next year. The finish line was chaotic and has been for years. At one point the finish chute spilled out onto the course so kids couldn't even get to the finish line. Great race but chip timing would make this race top notch.

    In another note the course was in amazing shape. Best I've seen.

    I disagree with perfect conditions. That would be cloudy and about 55 degrees. But it was still good compared to past years.

    Gus and 8:01, I am sure all the "shorter longer" comments about Toro are snark as a result of the initial comment after Chieftain. Everyone is chill about the way Toro is set up for the different races. SF has the new record, WG ran better on the same course, and clearly Bell has some work to do getting healthy. We are all enjoying the start of what looks like a great season. Pac tiger next week will tell us a bit more about how our elite teams could stack up at state. Glorious!

    Yes, it's all in good fun. Most of us would agree on that but there's always a few on the fringe that will take opportunity to take shots at folks and even worse, at kids... How about those taking shots at other teams go out and run a bit more and use that spare energy...
    Oh, we actually discussed bib chip timing yesterday and are certainly going to look into it... I agree that bib chip timing is the solution to many issues at meets... One year we went to Woodbridge and our guys crashed into about 50-100 guys all bunched up 10 meters BEFORE the finish! It was quite the scene and major mess of results. We almost split some of the boys' races yesterday but decided to make multiple start lines and keep the meet as short as possible since it's a long day as it is with the open and middle school races... Anyway, thanks for the positive feedback! Always looking to improve the meet :)

    @9:10 The performances speak for themselves and the comment was not a shot at the kids or teams. It is more a shot at the rankers who equate real XC 3-mile courses (e.g. Toro) with hills and varied conditions to a flat grass field.
