  1. A battle of attrition for the distance guys in today's heat, but Vernau impressed (2nd in the 1,600 and 1st in 3,200), Jesuit frosh Matt Strangio finishes 2nd in the 3,200 after doubling back from the 1,600. Crazy impressive for a freshman in a race with D1 Cross Country champion Luis Grijalva and Jake Ritter.

  13. When did st.Joes become part of NCS class A. Thought they were bayshore. Is it because of school size?

  14. St. Joseph Notre Dame joined the BCL this year so now they compete at the Class A Meet.

  15. Anyone know of any scratches leading up to section finals?

  16. Amador Valley assistant coach, Sari Haskell, filmed all of the track races from NCS Tri-Valley. They are posted at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJW2TUqL8xkLTyj_bX6PFaQ.

  17. Wow just checked all of st. joes sports have moved over to BCL including their highly rated basketball team. Surprising switch. Still remember the success of the old eastbay catholic league.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am confident that the BCL is a great fit for St. Joes. Very similar schools for them in that league. We used to be in that league as well although on the West side for sports that were separated. Great league!

  19. When are scratches from the CCS finals required to be made and announced? If more than 2 scratches are made before the day of the meet, will other alternates be added or is 2 the limit?

  20. Any idea when the NCS's heat sheet will be coming out?

    ReplyDelete
  21. NCS heat sheet will be available at the meet when you get a
    program.

  22. "NCS heat sheet will be available at the meet when you get a
program." Thought they usually post it at their website. Money must be tight!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I believe the heat sheets will be posted on the NCS website but I haven't been in NCS for a while. Does somebody know the definite answer?

  24. Post 10:04. They have alternates posted on the the Lynnbrook site (Live Results)! Unless you get notified prior from a school(Coach) that there athlete is not running! A majority of the coaches are good about letting you know earlier, but sometimes the coaches don't even know what there kids are thinking until the last minute! Have your athlete warm-up regardless for there respected race that they might be a alternate in, you never know! You also might not know until right at the last moment (15 to 20 minutes) that they might be running! I've had kids get in that way in the past and so have others! It's not always guaranteed, but like I said you never know! Best of luck!

  25. Rob, do they go beyond the 2 listed alternates if 3 pull out or are the 2 listed the max?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am not Rob but if more than 2 scratch, I am sure they can dig deeper in the pool of alternates. The problem is those athletes will more than likely not be at the meet.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Meet program is not posted online (programs sold at the meet), but performance lists will be posted on the NCS website and are on the results page at http://diablotiming.com/results/2017-05-26/.

    ReplyDelete
  28. There's nothing in the by-laws limiting the number of alternates, so it may depend on the clerk/official's willingness to dig past the two listed. I had two throwers get into finals last year after finishing 15th and 20th at trials, because they were present and ready to throw. I always tell my athletes who are alternates to assume they're in and prepare accordingly, up until the gun goes off - because you never know.

  29. Am I reading the entries right for MOC? a 2:12.78 800 meter runner ( off a 1600-800 double ) scratched out of the 800 in NCS?

    ReplyDelete
  30. To 1:48 PM That would be Stanziano from Concord. She won the Tri Valley 1600 in 4:55
