No. 57-58 first lap is not too fast for a sub 4mile. This is also evidenced by the 58 last lap. The problem was the gas was let up in lap 2 and it was costly in lap 3.
So Teare attempted a sub-4 mile and ran a great 4:01.29, but he was also given credit for a 3:59.80 1600m on the same effort on Athletic.net. I don't think I've seen that before. Is that something new?

ReplyDeleteMaybe not so much the first 400 but the first 200 was very fast. At some point they all had to ease up a little to recover from fast start.
