All-CCS Team

  1. With only 4 of the top 14 (1st and 2nd teams) and 8 of the top 24 being seniors on the boys side, it looks like CCS should have some good representatives at State for the next few years. Congrats to all those picked for a great season.

  2. Did the bellarmine kid make footlocker nationals? Looks like he placed 9th in seeded race

  3. I think they take top 8, and 2 from NXN.

  4. Yep...Meika made the West team, one of three Californians! He is the first Bellarmine runner to make the team; to my knowledge, here is a list of other CCS runners to race: Rich Reed 1979 (Fremont?), Gary Lewis 1981 (HS unknown by me), Matt Giusto 1983 champion (San Mateo), Victor Santamaria 1984 (Willow Glen), Daniel Sikiric 1995 (Leland), Brett Gotcher 2000 (Aptos), Alex Dunn 2003 (SLV), Ben Sitler 2005 (St. Francis), and Tyree Johnson 2007 (Palma)

If you don't know please don't post that stuff. While it used to be top 8 (now 10), never has this race taken any NXN finisher as a qualifier.

  6. Actually Footlocker did take runners from NXN before when Footlocker and Nike decided to play together. It didnt last long and now only runners in certain states that are able to run in Footlocker and NXN qualifiers are able to do both.

  8. I thought it was a real close call between Marea Zlatunich (Aptos) and Mari Friedman (Santa Cruz)for Runner of the Year. It looks like you got it right. Zlatunich took 6th at Footlocker West.

  9. Rich Read was Mission San Jose. You can add Mike McCollum from Paly in 1980. Gary Lewis was from Gunderson.

  11. Patrick,
Jason Balkman (Lynbrook) in 1994 made the West Team then declined the invite to go to Nationals (went to Christmas Formal instead).
