    Let's please keep in mind that we are looking for the very best cross country runners in the history of California. The names you submit should be right up there with any of the past great runners. When you consider state championships, would that runner have won all the other divisions as well? For example, Jordan Hasay won the Division V state championship four years in a row. Her time was the fastest in the state 3 of those 4 years and the one time she didn't have the fastest time, her time was the 2nd fastest that year by a second 17:04 to 17:05.

    CIF Champion, Mt. SAC record holder, Palos Verdes Record Holder, Undefeated
    senior season, 8:58.4 2-mile at cross-country postal on dirt track.

    Harold Kuphaldt, my teammate at Bella Vista who won everything prior to the advent of the state cross country meet. Was second in the 1981 Kinney Nationals. I would add Fiona O'Keeffe too, though understand her injury filled senior year wasn't reflective of her at her best.

    Who is more decorated at the high school level than Dameworth? First 3 D1 CIF titles(15:13, 15:04, 14:45). National title at Kinney in 1989, and 4th in 88. In 89 at Kinney West he just missed Marc Davis old Woodward Park record of 14:38 by 1 second. I believe he dropped the 2nd place runner and next years national title winner Quintanna by 20 seconds in the last mile.

    I apologize if this is a duplicate post. I tried to post this comment a couple of hours ago and it seems to have disappeared into the ether.

    I'd suggest Jay Marden from Mission San Jose High in Fremont. He won the Footlocker National CC race in 1980. He has the 2nd fastest time ever at Crystal Springs.

    Let's stop with this nonsense. If you are not multiple state champion, footlocker champion, #1 over-all for multiple years stop throwing out their names.

    If you can't top Stamps and Hassay for girls don't say they deserve to be on the list. If they can't top multiple state titles, FL region wins don't nominate.

    It's those 2 girls and Dameworth if we're going off pure HS stats. Dameworth qualified and finished 19th at FL Nationals as a freshman too. When was the last time a freshman boy did that?

    I actually looked this up earlier this year and it was more to find out who holds the high school record for the marathon. The high school record is held by Clancy Devery (2:23:05) in 1977. Mitch Kingery's time of 2:23:47 is in the top 3 I believe and some believe that Devery's time is a bit aided by a downhill course. Regardless, Kingery ran his marathon as a sophomore and it's an incredible mark.

    Postal is NOT cross country, TRACK is not XC, Marathon NOT XC.....Question is about CROSS COUNTRY only. How hard is that. As someone stated if your not a state champ and a Footlocker or NXN champ in the day's the have been around your not in the conversation. Example: Marc Davis State Champ and foot locker record holder in the conversation. Eric Hulst Work XC jr champ ( before FL and NXN existed ) in conversation. Fast two mile on track....not..
