  2. I have been meaning to get this posted for a couple of weeks. I will add more dates in the next couple of days. Those are the meets that I know are definite at the moment.

  3. Hi Coach,

Ram is actually on 9/24 I believe (not 26th since that's a Monday)

other additions (maybe you can verify):
    10/8 - Serra Invite?
10/15 - Monterey Bay Invite? (since CCS is there this year)
    10/21-22 - Mt. SAC Invite

    Thanks again Coach!

  4. http://www.gostanford.com/pdf9/3692107.pdf page 8 states Saturday, September 25 (which is a Sunday) Where does it state October 1 for Stanford?

  5. I wish Lowell was on Sept 17 this year... Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

  6. 24th has been fixed and will add the others.

Stanford sent out an email confirming October 1st as the date for 2016. I can dig it up and post.

  7. Chieftain at Toro 9/17?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Stanford the week bf Clovis. Anyone else have an issue with that?

    ReplyDelete
  9. You think Stanford cares about the Clovis Invite?

    ReplyDelete
  10. No. But do you skip it to take your team to Clovis if you expect to make state?

    ReplyDelete
  11. They are on different weekends. I don't see the conflict at all.

  12. As a little teaser, Saugus will be making their Earlybird debut this year. There is also no Chieftain at Toro so we expect some more top teams to join us Sept 10 at Toro to get a course preview for CCS...
Check out list of teams as they confirm here

  13. Hey NCS, come down and let's see what you got. Come run Toro or Crystal. Much better courses than running around gas fields and basketball courts. Bring it!

  14. I've said it before, but I believe it bears repeating: If you are starting out as a new coach, take your team to the Earlybird. I know the course is challenging, but Coach Ibarra and his staff put on a fantastic meet that really celebrates the sport and the students...a fantastic 'first step' for new runners that will definitely get them excited about cross country. I swear by the Earlybird!! See everybody on the 10th of September!

  15. What NCS course is around a gas field? Not denying it, just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Think he meant 'grass' field

  17. Patrick,
You are very kind. Great meets are made by great teams and having Bellarmine over the years puts a nice goal for teams to shoot for! What in the world do you do with all the Earlybird plaques? ;)
King of Riverside may come and with Saugus coming could be fun section battles with Madera South there as always..

  18. Is the Serra Invite on 10/8 or 10/15 this year?

    ReplyDelete
  19. October 8th and it's posted and confirmed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Why so few invitational XC meets at Crystal this year? Anything other than Serra on 10/8 and Center on 10/20?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Can anyone comment on the two 9/17 meets in Hayward and Concord? How big is the field, what are the courses like, level of competition, etc. A meet that weekend would fit nicely with our schedule, but I've never seen those courses or fields before.

  22. Bella Vista Bronco Invitational is October 15th this year at Willow Hills. Chip timing this year! YES!

  24. @Coach Tim, here are my thoughts on both Hayward HS course and Newhall Park in Concord. Been to Newhall only a couple of times and I've been to Hayward dozens of times, so I'm may be biased and the team I coached (Berkeley HS) is going to Farmer.

Farmer Invite at Hayward HS - done at the NCS course, I believe they will be using the temporary changed course that NCS will use, good chance to learn it. But there are other opportunities as well - Mariner for instance. No telling how the new course will run and affect times, but the high school is fairly flat with one long, steady climb of a hill and a shorter hill from the track to the rest of the course. Other portions are fast on pavement or downhill. A few parts in slightly taller grass or sometimes mud. Good meet for smaller teams as they give out 10-15 medals per race I think. Would not say it is the most competitive, but some fast kids usually show up (Dublin, St Joes, and Miramonte often go). Good viewer course and pretty easy to get mile splits. Previous results can be found on athletic.net.

DLS/Carondelet at Newhall Park - Fantastic meet environment with a lot of teams. Has the Nike sponsor and all the gear to go with it. The course is fast, with only one major hill in the middle of the race Otherwise flat on gravel, pavement, trail, and a little bit of short grass. HUGE fields, with over 200 (300 sometimes?) runners in the races. Very competitive - Jesuit, DLS, Davis, Los Gatos, Amador Valley, Campo, SRV, Monte Vista all usually go. The race starts wide and can bottleneck pretty quickly iirc. Good meet to get used to fast starts and big packs - state meet/Stanford style racing. Great spectator course as the runners pass by one area like 6 times (3 mile course). Previous results and all the meet information for previous years can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/dlschsnikeccinvitational/

  25. Thanks Andrew, that's a very helpful post! I've never been to a race anywhere in the NCS, so it's very helpful to get an insider's perspective.

  26. October 8th - The Other Meet @ Granite Regional Park

  27. Artichoke should move to September 17 or 26 to get a better turn out. Nothing goin on those dates

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think the artichoke turnout will be fine. Not everyone needs to run at stanford.

  29. Has anyone heard back from Clovis Invitational yet? I submitted their google form for "new teams" the first day it was open, and heard nothing so far. We skipped a year as I was overwhelmed as a new coach, but would really like to go back this year.

  30. The Castro Valley cross country invitational is October 8 at the soon-to-be-world-famous Canyon Middle School course.

Oct 15 - Bell Gardens Invitational - Cerritos Regional Park, CA

  32. Peter, what would make the Canyon course so "world famous?" I remember it is a looooong uphill for the first half and a few more steep ups in the middle. Good course but not sure most people could find it on a map.

  33. 33rd Mariner Invite on October 15th at Hayward High. Great way and last chance to preview the NCS course in a competitive setting before NCS Meet in Nov.

  34. Coach Tim,

I received a password right away and was able to enter the meet. I would inquire again.
