  1. When was the last time an NCS runner has ran under 9:00 3 times in a season before league and post season meets?

  2. I will leave that one to the veteran coaches and fans. I am not sure. Part of the challenge is getting in races that give you an opportunity to dip under 9.

  6. I was hoping for Serra Top 7 results too, need 'em for Top 8 entries.

  7. I think they are still cleaning up any errors. They did post them at the meet for everybody to see.

  8. Top 8 closed at 11pm Saturday. Bummer.

We have seen a lot of really fast 3200s early (and not just by Teare). With just under 2 months to State I am interested to see how they peak at State. We are starting to see kids in XC (Jesuit) and track start fast and end fast.

  9. Woody Wilson?

  10. Did not posting the Serra meet before 11pm last night affect the CCS Top 8 entries? Don't you just put in the times and the meet verifies them later? They are posted now and can be verified before the entry cuts are made. No?

  11. I would hope that coaches who had athletes that improved their times at the Serra Invitational yesterday wrote those times down before leaving the meet. Now that the results are posted, they can be verified for the CCS Top 8 meet.

  12. I wrote coach Harmatz with concerns about the deadline. Based on his response to me I think that as long as you entered your marks accurately before 11pm on Direct Athletics, you should be okay.

  13. Spent a relatively warm day at Woody Wilson and watching the lack of competitors, made me think if other meets have lured the talent away? There were some good races, but in some events every participant got a medal. (Top 4).

  14. It's tough to tell but the more popular meets definitely draw a lot of schools away from the other invites happening on the same date.

  15. Would it be better for some of the coaches to split their teams and send their best to the popular meets (top 7) for the completion and the others to a lesser meet (WW) for the development?

  16. If the school has a large team and enough coaching staff splitting them across meets makes perfect sense. I know some schools only have one or two coaches, so it's hard to manage. Its a case by case thing I'm sure.

  18. I believe that Erik Olson of Novato High School ran sub 9:00 at least 3 times (Arcadia, Sacramento Meet of Champions and Woody Wilson). If I remember correctly, he ran sub 9 five times that season including post-season. He may have run an equivalent at the Stanford Invitational, but I'm not sure.
