Soquel girls are Divison 3....not Divison 4.

My prediction: Pain! and a clean sweep for WCAL in boys D1, 2 & 3. Same thing for girls D2. Wow that's a good league.

ReplyDeleteNot sure WCAL gets any individual titles. Looks like Slaney and Robison are too tough. Meeks stepping down to D2 is too good for the rest of the field.

ReplyDeletePaul Colosi of St. Francis CCC has been their #1 runner all year and ran sub 16 at the Serra Invite. He is the favorite for Division V.
ReplyDeleteJustin Robison should be the favorite for Division II. He has the only sub 15 effort on the Crystal Springs course this year.
I think Division III is wide open.
Division IV will be between Munoz and Miranda. Munoz won last year in a surprise at Toro Park. I think they will be together for the majority of the race and may come down to a kick at the end of the race.
Lastly, Slaney will be the favorite in Division I. He has been the most consistent this year and has the fastest Crystal Springs time going into the section final.
CCS: One Freshman finishes in the top 10 in each D1 and D2, and top 5 in each D3, D4, and D5 (possible win in D5). Heard it here first.

Yes, Los Altos is in D2 and Zaeske has a chance but Robison is the favorite, running under 15 a few weeks ago.

As to Walt's comparison, Julia Bounds Saint Francis ran 18:43 at WCAL at Crystal which changes the Mitty vsSFHS comparison

ReplyDeleteI mixed up the times of three St.Francis girls. Bounds should be at 18:43, Zhao should be at 19:21, and Seaman should be at 19:51. This did not change the possible Mitty/St.Francis scores and changed two other teams by 1 point each, which did not change their places.
St. Francis - Mitty girls matchups have been a great spectacle all season. In addition to WCAL meets, they also ran head-to-head and finished within points / seconds of each other as a team at the Clovis Invitational. Assuming everyone stays healthy, it seems the matchup at CCS (like WCAL champs) favors St. Francis slightly, where relatively strong #2 and #3 runners on SF edge out Mitty's slight edge at #4 and #5. However, the opposite MIGHT be true at the state meet, where competition will be deeper and strong #4 and #5 finishes may be decisive...
