Interesting - on girls side, looks like 8 NorCal teams are listed in this top 25, 6 of which also appear in the NorCal top-10 ranking (Mitty (CCS) at #13 and Monta Vista (CCS) at #22 being the overlooked pair)
I wouldn't expect this to be accurate at all. At least on the girls side, many teams have girls who don't run track or don't run the 3200 and focus on the mile or other events. Some of those 3200 times are from early in the season also.
These kind of rankings (as well as subjective rankings) are not going to be 100% accurate. However, they will give you a pretty good idea who will be some of the top teams heading into the season.
No one is over looked. Mitty is very, very good & will be again next year. No doubt they will be favorites in D2, but with a new Coach this year can they sustain. Saint Francis has remarkably held together and will be their biggest challenge. But Mitty is the favorite in girls D2.
Monta Vista is always very good. They get some amazing talent year after year and will be good once again.
On the girls' side there are so many errors it's hard to put too much stock into these. Multiple girls are listed twice for the same team, CCS and SJS St. Francis teams are mixed up, girls missing (e.g. Maddie Coney for MVHS 11:31) etc. Fun concept, but not accurate.
On the guys' side, Monte Vista (NCS) would be happy to have Tyler Lopez at 9:43, unfortunately, he is not a student at MVHS :)
With respect to Mitty and Monta Vista being overlooked, perhaps the word choice was wrong. The point of the post was just to note that those are the only two NCS teams appearing in the top 25 list based on 3200 information that do not appear in the NCS top-10 list. The other 6 NCS teams appearing in the top 25 list all also appear in the NCS top-10 list. There may be a good reason for this - I was just making an observation.

ReplyDeleteIf this was done last year, how accurate was it to what actually transpired during the season?

Why do you think they are overlooked?

We are aware of the errors and are working on fixing them. We will then repost.
ReplyDeleteIf you spot any other errors, please let me know and we will get them corrected.
Thank you Albert! It wasn't meant as a complaint. I emailed you the errors I saw.

ReplyDeleteBellarmine:
ReplyDelete#2 Shaw has graduated.
#3 & 4 Beaudoin-Rousseau is duplicated.
I guess most of the errors are just duplicates names with nicknames, shortened names, and ones that are misspelled.
