ReplyDeleteThis race was run in Albuquerque at 5300 ft. altitude. Kids were passing out, throwing up all over the place and results were dominated by Cougar Track club which was from Albuquerque. Some of the kids from CA who usually do quite well couldn't handle the atitude change. Others like Maggie Bell and Lauren Jacobs seemed largely unaffected. Congrats to the all the participants who had to qualify at their association and Regional meets (top 20 individuals from 16 Regions)
ReplyDeleteParker ran JO's in Albuquerque (actually Bernalillo) many years back. Fresh snow, and the altitude was definitely a factor. I recall Silver State Striders doing well, likely due to training in Reno. It was a well-run meet and a great time.
