CHRONOLOGICAL LISTING OF U.S. MILERS WHO HAVE BROKEN 4:00 IN THE MILE

Thanks to Track and Field News, a great look back at all the first time American sub 4 minute milers.  To date, there have been 366.  The list has definitely grown in the past few years as you will see.  See if you can find the runners who have some sort of Northern California connection.

  2. U.S. citizens only. Verzbicas is not yet a U.S. citizen. Note that Lagat's entry is not his first sub-4, but his first sub-4 as a U.S. citizen.

  3. Only one from our neck of the woods I know of is 111. Dan Aldridge (Sub-4 TC)3:59.9 San José April 11
    He went on to run 3:58.2 for Athletics West (Petaluma HS ’75, Santa Rosa JC ’77) at Eugene, OR 5/81
    Our fastest girl is 4:31.50i Sara Bei Hall, Asics (Montgomery HS ‘01) at Millrose Games 1/29/10
