Earlybird Cross Country Invitational Results...

  1. Jenny Xu - remember the name! Next big thing to come to CCS (winning the Earlybird freshman race seems to predict some future success: Allison Sturges, Nikki Hiltz, Rachel Hinds, etc.).

Nice to see an Asian runner showing promise.

  2. Great race by Jenny Xu, a whole minute faster than Nikki Hiltz and Allison Sturges were as freshmen (very impressive performance by 2nd and 3rd place too, it is rare to see freshman girls under 20 minutes at Toro Park)!

However, I would have to put her as the second most impressive performance of the day mainly due to Nikki Hiltz running an incredible race... absolutely crazy, we've had some really good runners in the CCS these last few years (Jennifer Bergman, etc.) and this has been the fastest time in a long time (a la Tori Tyler). Nikki Hiltz should really make some noise on the big stage this year, and hopefully we see Jenny Xu join her on that stage in the next few years - she certainly has the potential to!

  3. Speaking of asian runner showing promise, theres another one, but saratoga didn't run their fast squad.

on wednesday, freshman runner steven sum ran a 11:02 at the lynbrook invite and 2nd place finisher ran a 11:34. If he ran earlybird, he would have gotten first. he shows so much promise in the future especially when he has a 4:42 mile.

  4. How this course compared to Hayward High? What do you think would be the approximate difference in times between the two?

  6. 1st is never a guarantee. Lots can happen when you add an extra mile plus hills.

  10. If you're talking about Steven Sum, all I found was a 13:42 40th place finish in a JO 4k race http://www.milesplit.com/meets/61588/results/145197
His 3k age-group race would have been at least a year prior to the 4k race above.
