  1. Any results? Wondering if they will finish the meet first before posting any results.

  4. D3 boys went campo, petaluma, las lomas, piner, alcalanes. with Luis taking the win at 15:23. D3 girls was dominated by Campo with Verdon coming in at 17:11 with grace around 20 seconds behind taking second. D4 boys had Milechman coming in around 15:20's. I think San Rafael took 1st, and st. Marys took second. These might be a little off, but it's what i can remember from the race.

  8. Alameda takes a dump on Santa Rosa and Casa Grande for third place in D2 with a scoring five of 4 sophomores and one freshmen. Ouch.

  12. parker deuel and srv won d-2
    followed by Mt. Eden
    followed by Alameda

However, the rain really affected the times, so deuel barely broke 16 with a 15:57 (i think?), and for alameda, they had a big pack coming in, with soph Stephen Carlson at 17th w/a 17:00, soph Duc Nguyen 18th at 17:03, soph Reece Kamphius and soph Michael Moler in the 17:20's both placing in the 20s-30s, and frosh cameron tu in 17:30s.

i heard from the santa rosa coach, though, that one of their top runners had fallen somehow, so they weren't able to mount a resistance to the teams of Casa Grande, Alameda, Mt. Eden, or SRV. but a race is a race, and the alameda kids really did well, and contrary to popular opinion, made it to state, with a young team to boot.

  14. Wow, D1 and D2 times are really that slow?
In D3, 15:57 would have been like 12th. D3 didn't have the rain though.

I guess Alameda invented the time machine...

  16. gabe arias didn't win the race, he placed 2nd with a 16:15, followed by ratto 5th with a time in the 16:40s, and not sure of the other teammates. urban barely won over st. jose, with a 1 point lead somewhere around 66-67, and sjnd's #3 guy was running injured. like alameda, their team is really young, and they've now made it to state 2 years in a row.

  17. it seems like all the times were rather slow. what happened this year?

  18. D3 was the only race to get started before the rain started to come down. It began right before the D4 start and got torn up over the course of that race. By the time D1 and D2 came around, the hill had absolutely no footing.

  19. yeah srv won with a 28, then mt. eden with something in the 90s, and alameda with a 129, barely beating out casa which had a 135ish

  20. Verdon is crazy. 17:19 IN the rain...

  21. Great battle between Urban and St. Joseph today. A 1 point victory for Urban which had to be perfect today without their #3 runner.

The course was not fast at all today due to the rains on Friday and partially today.

Verdon and Orders were very impressive and will be contenders to finish very high at the state meet.

I heard from several runners that the hill was the toughest part of the course as well.

  22. would there be a way to make a conversion to the course without the rain?

  23. I was assuming that times were somewhere around 30-40 seconds slower than a dry course with optimal temperature.

  24. there up.

  25. I think an accurate conversion would be 20 seconds or so for the earlier races (from 9ish startng with d4 boys until 11 with D5 boys and D1 girls). After that it really started to slow down. 30-40 seconds slower for the later races like DII guys. D5 girls at 12 offer comparative times from last year that ended up being 30 seconds slower.

  27. you don't thnink the D3 Boys were afected?

  28. d3 boys were to some extent, but rain really started as the d4 guys were at the start. I'm sure the hill was a bit mushy from the rain last night, but they definitely had an easier time when it came to footing in that it wasn't complete slop when they were one it. The course was still slow for those guys, just not to the same extent as the people who ran after the course had been hit hard by the weather.

  29. As far as conversions go, I'd be willing to venture more like 45+ seconds for the later races, maybe even more, but its hard to put a number on it, it was just madness at some parts.

  30. We like to make handicaps, excuses, and figure out time conversions but this is cross country! Yes, the course definitely became treacherous later on during the day and runners got muddier. How about the wind factor and icy temperature during the early races? What about the kid with a fever but ran for his team anyway or the kids who took 5 seconds to throw up on the side. There will always be a story...
