NCS Meet of Champions this Saturday at Hayward HS.

I am working on the preview article for the meet and will post the leading team and individual contenders later this week.  Any comments on this Saturday's meet?

Who are the team favorites in each race?  What teams are going to state?  What runners are going to win the individual titles?

Any help would be appreciated.

  4. Should be an outstanding race on the D1 boys side between Eversol and Bickert. I'd give the advantage to Eversol given his performance last year and what feel to me like a home court advantage. Both are excellent runners and will do well at Clovis.

Anyone care to predict the top 5 boys in D1? In order?

  5. While your asking about the top 5 in D1, how about 2 - 5 in D2 (Deuel should win)

  6. Girls D1 - Sophie Hartley wins her first of 4 NCS title as a freshman. Granda wins the team race.

Campo wins D3, individually and as a team.

D2 seems like a toss up. Who is favored here?

  15. Rain or showers for Friday and Saturday could really make things interesting...course was in nice shape on Sat. for the HAAL finals but races after 10AM had to contend with a strong cross wind across most of the course and much warmer than expected temps. Saturday high is projected at 60 so that shouldn't be a problem...but mud and slop may depending on the weather gods. Ben looked very strong and relaxed on his run Saturday and Kelsey S. was a beast just blowing through the course. It will be interesting.

  16. If it rains or the course is wet....no one goes sub 15....

15:15 to 15:30 may just be the best times if the course is wet/muddy and there is wind.

    Stay tuned...lol

  17. FYI Kelsey S. ran a 17:49 and cruised the last mile since she was about 1:20 ahead of 2nd place at the 2 mile mark (she was on a 17:30 pace at the 2 according to my sources). Ben E. ran a 15:45 last weekend but I think a lot of the top runners were saving themselves for this coming weekend.

  18. Are Arthur Ruvalcava and Nolan Petersen even the fastest runners on their own teams? Last week at the HAAL Championships, Ruvalcava(7th place) finished 25 seconds behind his teammate Marvin Nagal(2nd place). While in the MVAL Championships, Petersen finished 34 seconds(2nd place) behind his teammate Jesse Chestnut(1st place). Perhaps Marvin Nugal and Jesse Chestnut should be considered in the discussion of who to watch.

  19. top D3 and D4 teams?

  20. Well if you look at the times from 2 weeks ago ruvalcava ran 16:05 and nugal ran 16:05 on saturday. So some thing must have gone with ruvalcava?

    ReplyDelete
  21. That still leaves Nugal and Ruvalcaba both at 16:05 with Nugal stepping it up more recently at his League Championships when it counted most. I look for to run well again at this weeks NCS Meet.

  22. ^Oops I meant, I look for both Ruvalcaba and Nugal to run well at this weeks NCS Meet.

  23. Boys D3 state qualifiers?

    ReplyDelete
  24. D2 state sualifiers, individual and team?

    ReplyDelete
  25. As far as the two teams who would make it to state for D1 my guess would be De La Salle and College Park for the guys side and Granada and College Park for the girls side.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Amador is ranked 3rd on both the girls and boys side for D1. any chance that school will take a team to state?

  27. D2 - Jesse CHestnut and Nolan Petersen.
    D1 - Avery Kruger
