SRV is indeed in Division II.
And these are far from accurate, whether it be on paper or on the screen.

Good job on the rankings, at this point you have to consider all the picks to be contenders for the title, it's June lots can happen.

ReplyDeleteThere is a big difference between Division I and Division II in NCS. De La Salle finished in 3rd place last year in Division I with the 4th fastest team in any division. With the addition of College Park, Division I will once again be one of the most competitive divisions and only two teams get to make the trip to Fresno.

And, by the way, while DLS was 4th overall in team times, they were third overall in team scores.
ReplyDeleteSRV was hit hard by graduation, but seeing as they are now in D2 I wouldn't actually be shocked to see them win again, they got parker, plus a (incoming) sophmore under 10, and another under 2. For whats its worth there are also rumors they got one or two incoming freshman under 5, but of course its a long shot if those will be a factor.
And by the way, I don't know about las chicas but for the boys at least this is far from "farcical". I might shift around one or two teams but on the whole pretty good.

Farce - A light dramatic work in which highly improbable plot situations, exaggerated characters, and often slapstick elements are used for humorous effect.
Read Oz's rankings again and I believe you will see:
1. A light dramatic work (see the intro and light-hearted nature of the text)
2. Improbable plot (as you admittedly noted the reversal of some of the rankings in the boys--since you couldn't be bothered with the girls)
3. Exaggerated characters (some sandbagging and promotion of others)
4. Slapstick elements used for humorous effect (see the AV boys write up)
Seems like it satisfies the definition of farcical.

Yeah, I know what a farce is. Sure it may have elements of a farce, as you pointed out, but I do not think those details characterize the whole rankings. The text parts get pretty silly, but its the numbers that are the important part. Calling it farcical implies that the rankings listed are utterly worthless and ridiculous, which does not apply here. I am not saying I agree with these rankings in their entirety, especially when it comes to some of the more minor details about individual teams, but I do not think it is fair to just completely dismiss them as absurd. I think they give a pretty good picture of the status quo of NCS DI.......on paper.
ReplyDeleteAll those low 12's from College Park's JV/FS team weren't that good because those times were run at the Ed Sias course and those times would be okay fs/jv times but aren't really of varsity caliber.
