wow what an intense pic. Interesting that they gave Rory from Santa Rosa 11th place, it looks like the guy from De La Salle got him at the end. Maybe NCS should look into photo finishes and review.
I got that pic right before they crossed the finish line and I do remember the DLS runner (Matt Savage) went crashing to the ground. That picture is before the finish line so it doesn't really tell us who crossed the line first.
I personally thought that the DLS guy got in there. However, Coach Caruana, I just want to thank you for your hard work this year for NCS! You are one gr8t coach! You deserved that award! Go BCL!
I only took the picture and I was looking at them coming at me through a lens so I can't make any call on who was in front. I do know there was a guy there on the line making the calls and he did a good job calling out close finishes.
Victor, thanks a lot. I was very surprised they gave me that award. I am just glad that the NCS can get some recognition.
Congrats on your race. What a great effort and outstanding time.
if i am correct on my information, this will de la salle's 19th state championship appearance in the 21 years that the state meet has been in existance. i believe that after this state meet, they will have eclipsed jesuit in state meet appearances and have the most in all of California.
in your professional opinion, do you think that makes de la salle the winniningest cross country program in the state?
Oh COME ON. It's not Rory's fault that the guy from De La Salle couldn't even stay on his feet. Rory didn't touch him once intentionally, so get over yourself- unless you're that guy, you can't judge what happened. Rory's not stupid; he wouldn't have even considered shoving that guy.
Nobody in any of the comments accused Rory of doing anything. It's a picture of two high school athletes competing to their best ability to get to the line first. I believe people questioned the order of the finish but that is very hard to show in that picture.

ReplyDeleteDe La Salle having the most appearances at state wouldn't make them the best, but I'd definitely say that makes them the most consistent team in cali
