His performance on the 2nd is sorta a make or break moment; his times are starting to plateau although after talking w/ sources in the Area he only runs about 7-11 miles a week, including next to no speed work. I ran the numbers through an algorithm I developed for XC times and project his fresh 5k @ 16’35” + a 15’22” senor 5k. That is amazing and only very few people in the world get to establish world records. Nobody knows what is going to happen in the future and I would think the majority of us would like for him to continue to succeed. Best of luck to him.Albert Caruanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14434646351717864405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-6917111139137315582018-07-21T08:14:08.003-07:002018-07-21T08:14:08.003-07:00Alex Scales paced him again this year.Alex Scales paced him again this year.Albert Caruanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14434646351717864405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-9219337777170072252018-07-21T07:43:48.138-07:002018-07-21T07:43:48.138-07:00Did he have a rabbit? The post also says he is going to take another shot at the record on August 2. I understand that he will turn 14 a few days after that.

As for his future in the sport, he may be an Olympian or he may peak at 4:20s in high school or somewhere in between -- only time will tell. I get that people react negatively to the overhyping of middle school runners because there's absolutely no guarantee that 4:36 for a mature and well-trained 12 year old is going to lead to 3:48 at age 24. In fact, it's unlikely just because statistically it's unlikely for anyone (not a knock on Jeremy, he may be that one in a million). But it's also a little disappointing to see the negative predictions that seem to come out whenever a young runner puts up a fast time. People should just appreciate good running and sit tight on both the optimistic and pessimistic projections. Good luck to him to whatever level he attains.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-18839229431202047622018-07-20T21:25:21.110-07:002018-07-20T21:25:21.110-07:00So, a year later he improves by .04 from age 12 to...So, a year later he improves by .04 from age 12 to 13?
And when does he turn 14?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-37547115313661826162018-07-20T13:46:36.749-07:002018-07-20T13:46:36.749-07:00Jeremy will likely stay sharp thru HS. If he is doing this on 20-30 miles per week, he will be fine going into HS. If he is already up to 35+ in MS for the purpose of breaking some cool but otherwise meaningless records, then I would be concerned. You have to hope that he has the proper coaching and motivation. You know he will get that from his HS coach in a few months.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-57849921671247787472018-07-18T22:11:10.487-07:002018-07-18T22:11:10.487-07:00Chris DominicChris DominicAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-48495151932022662202018-07-18T21:03:12.481-07:002018-07-18T21:03:12.481-07:00Like who?
