I remembered your interview with her from this spring and read it again. It says that she had a low iron issue and that was the cause of her tough races at the end of cross country. It also said that in October she ran 17:44 at the Clovis Inv., which makes her the 8th fastest returning runner in the entire state on the Woodward course (looking at CIF State meet, Clovis Inv., and Rough Rider results). She's also the 8th fastest returning runner for Mt. Sac Inv., so pretty solid cross country credentials. She then came back this spring with 10:29 (3200) and 4:48 (1600) as well as her second podium finish at the state track meet--again credentials that are exceptional. I also quickly scanned results from last cross country and track PRs for the other runners you ranked ahead of her and it certainly seems like she should rank ahead of most of your top 10. And if trending matters, then it seems like Glenis Murphy will certainly be on that list.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-81697961780233631342015-06-22T19:30:12.309-07:002015-06-22T19:30:12.309-07:00You will notice that several athletes appear in bo...You will notice that several athletes appear in both lists following much improved track and field seasons. Yes, there are differences between track and xc, but you have to factor it all in. Maybe instead of trying to rank them, you just list them as runners to watch? Or if you're going to rank them, show last year's best xc results and this year's best track results, especially the 3200 and 1600. Noting injuries would be interesting too, as they obviously factor in.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-37260188815017743102015-06-22T19:14:00.414-07:002015-06-22T19:14:00.414-07:00I added the names mentioned above. Starn had a couple of tough races at the end of her last cross country season. Along with Corda and Murphy, they are all worthy considerations for the top 10. Hansel was state Division III champion last year. Until proven otherwise, she has to be highly ranked in cross country.Albert Caruanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14434646351717864405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-35237840152588544092015-06-22T18:24:20.936-07:002015-06-22T18:24:20.936-07:00Hansel #2?Hansel #2?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-62404452419035374792015-06-22T15:58:45.952-07:002015-06-22T15:58:45.952-07:00In addition to Starn, you might want to consider h...In addition to Starn, you might want to consider her teammate Meredith Corda and Redwood's Glennis Murphy...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-77296410814431999212015-06-22T15:10:52.854-07:002015-06-22T15:10:52.854-07:00umm, Brooke Starn is definitely in the top 10. how...umm, Brooke Starn is definitely in the top 10. how'd you miss her?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-24617756537723604342015-06-22T13:02:23.064-07:002015-06-22T13:02:23.064-07:00Alex Glavin, Jordan Scobey, Luis Grijalva, Logan T...Alex Glavin, Jordan Scobey, Luis Grijalva, Logan Taggart. He performed well in track (excluding state meet) and has the top returning time from sections.

For girls, I think Fiona O'Keeffe has to be #1 as the top returning State time from Norcal. I would say that Angelo Dipentino (Woodcreek) and Sofia Castiglioni (Davis) also have to mentioned in the top ten as well. Kendall Derry (Bella Vista) had a sub-par track season (compared to last year) but she at least deserves an Honorable mention going into XC.
Billnoreply@blogger.com
