Feel free to leave comments below regarding the meet today. Lots of surprises, spills and exciting racing today. Who was most impressive? What were some of the bigger upsets today? What NCS teams and individuals will make the biggest noise at the state meet next week?
Not too many teams qualified both girls and boys this time around. D1 and D2 had lots of different teams qualifying. Campolindo per usual in D3
ReplyDeleteI wish the NCS would put hay down on the dirt trail that borders the starting field.
ReplyDeleteAcalanes girls qualifying was a surprise. Miramonte girls falling short.
ReplyDeleteCourse was survival of the fittest
MCAL runners outperformed projections. League was talented this year.
ReplyDeleteBranson girls were a bit under the radar, as they avoided most of the big invitationals. But my goodness they are talented.
ReplyDeleteShout out to the Stuart Hall boys, who shocked the D5 section by taking 2nd place. They did it without a low stick, but ran pretty tightly together.
Also, NCS was one big mud bog. I've never seen a course look like that. It had an uneven effect on individual runners. Some runners adapted to it, and were able to race well. Other very good runners had a tough time, and were much slower than expected. Not sure exactly why that is. Different running forms? Type of shoe worn? Psychological comfort with the possibility of falling?
Course was So Muddy. I agree - some runners were still able to perform, albeit way off their prs especially as the day went on, but others were minutes off their times. Why is this?
ReplyDeleteAny idea what happened to Callum McBride of Albany? Injured?
ReplyDeleteThe merged results are definitely meaningless this year. D1 and D2 ran on a completely different course than D3, D4 and D5.
ReplyDeleteI believe. Callum McBride is injured and shut down his season
ReplyDeleteMCAL teams really performed well with the Redwood girls finishing a very close 2nd to Monte Vista, both Archie Williams teams winning Division IV, Branson girls winning Division V and Tamalpais boys getting a very close 2nd to Campolindo boys in Division III. Great day for the league.
ReplyDeleteAlmost as good as EBAL!
