With Santa Clara County in purple, does this mean that races can occur between schools within the county? Any word on when we will hear about how this affects cross county/track?
If you want to have a season, get your section to follow what the Central Section did. Or just split off from your section by county. Or just skip this year - your decision.
Looks like part of PAL in CCS (San Mateo Unified and possibly Sequoia HS Districts) will allow dual meets...working on procedures and schedules this week.
Gathering data here. So has the superintendent & school board given the green light to begin without students attending classes on site? We are all in favor. Getting the go ahead is proving a lot more difficult it seems.
Well not allowing competition in Santa Clara county and not allowing travel to another county pretty much is the nail in the coffin for the majority of CCS. Rumor has it union and districts are leaning towards hybrid for the fall. Maybe we get a season in 9 months?
I guess so but no way can you be fair as an AD and coach. Shouldn’t be allowed. So football gets no extra perks when you AD is the head coach? Who makes sure they are doing the AD job when he’s coaching?
And with all the rules and grades and coaches I feel for any AD who has to teach. It’s just wrong.
Until 2 years ago the AD job was just a stipend at Amador Valley. Instead of teaching 5 periods of PE, our AD was considered full-time just teaching 3 periods of PE and the extra periods off were his time to perform the duties of AD. He was also the baseball coach. Only last year did the district hire a full time athletic director, requiring an administrative credential. If that's how it worked here, I'd be surprised if lots of districts aren't still that way.
This is true. And this is why people without a drivers license get handed keys to a school van. It’s why grade checks aren’t run and paperwork and physicals don’t get filed. I know many schools where it’s only one period off. No way can you run sports in today’s world, especially now without an AD and support staff. For instance do you know how much it costs just to get helmets certified every year just to play football? Or the cost of transportation for just one sport? If you pay for that you need to pay for an AD.
But isn’t that even more of an argument you can’t be AD and coach and teach and do it all?
Still a hard no on sports from majority of superintendents.

ReplyDelete@11:28. A lot of leagues make plans. But will the superintendent/district approve sports? Have they been given the ok?

Will they allow sports without students in the classroom?
@5:25 It's my understanding that SMUHD is in favor of conducting outdoor sports in a safe manner, following the state/county guidelines.

At our school they hire the assistant principal and then after they are hired they say, "by the way, you're also the AD"....
