Check out the rankings below. Feel free to comment and make observations. To be honest, some divisions have several teams that have a shot to win and it wouldn't be a surprise if the 4th or 5th ranked team below won the ncs title. Should make for an excellent day of racing. Best of luck to all teams and individuals competing.
You can get a complete summary of the divisions as well as all the league results at the meet inside the meet program.

Wait, where are the individuals?
ReplyDeleteGood rankings though. Can't say I disagree with any of them.
Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWill get individuals up there tonight.
Comments are welcome.
I took a hot steamy dump on your erroneous Girls D3 rankings.
ReplyDeletewow, let's have some maturity here. albert works hard, and this is what he gets??
ReplyDeleteLet your legs do the talking, not your bowels.
ReplyDeleteFeel free to share your predictions of the div. III girls' race Mr. Powell.
ReplyDeleteAre you so sure about Castro Valley girls after the times they posted for league on the same course as NCS? One minute gap between second and third runners..
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michael Powell in as much as your rankings will be disproved, however, I seriously doubt they warrant being defecated upon.
ReplyDeleteTypically in the NCS, the races end up being Dual meets between the sections perennial best. The other teams tend to have little impact on the outcome between the clash of the top teams. If Campolindo beat Acalanes at their league meet, I think it is highly likely these results will be repeated.
As for Maria Carrillo, it is much harder to calculate how they will do against Campolindo. Both teams are championship performers, but I think Campolindo has better experience, and will come out on top. The margin of victory will probably be quite narrow.
We will see.
I will say that if Campolindo and Acalanes run the same races they ran at league at tomorrow's NCS meet, Acalanes will finish ahead of Campolindo. The key is to look at the gaps between runners and where points can be gained and lost. In a big meet format, Acalanes has better potential due to smaller gaps between runners. A quick conversion of league meet times will reveal this.
ReplyDeleteAs for the issue of experience, Maria Carrillo is the defending section champion and is led by 2 very seasoned and talented seniors. You would be hard-pressed to find more battle-tested runners than the Curtin twins.
All this is extraneous rambling at this point...a few hours from now, the ladies--not the prognosticators--will decide who is the very best.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow.
I was asked to rank the teams for the NCS program. With the help of many coaches and athletes, I came up with the most educated guesses on who will win tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWill I get every single division (boys and girls) right? Probably not. Will some teams rise and run above where I ranked them? Of course!
That is why they actually run the races.
You can disagree and make your points but when somebody makes a comment like Michael Powell, that comment speaks for itself. I don't need to elaborate.
As always, best of luck to all teams and individuals. If some teams end up using the rankings for motivation, awesome.
Thanks Albert - briefly said, your rankings help draw attention to the sport and to the NCS championships. Here's a good example - The Santa Rosa PressDemocrat quotes you in their NCS preview story which will run tomorrow:

Good luck to all at NCS -- should be fun!
