He has an open communication with the school's coach and he has no intention of taking over or taking a runner away from that coach. He coaches the Tinman Elite group now, plus a group of really good high school runners, including the Pings and Reinhardt Harrison, the rising junior who just ran a 4:01.34 mile this weekend. And he coached Drew Hunter's mother Joan, who is 1/2 of the Hunter coaching tandem at Loudoun Valley High School (multiple NXN titles), and the Hunters give Tom a lot of credit for his influence on them as coaches. I also remember reading Albert's interview with Robert Grove, the coach of Vista del Lago in Folsom, after their girls won the D3 state XC title two years ago and he had been coached as a masters runner by Tom and gave him a lot of credit. Not sure why anyone wouldn't be a fan. There are lots of good coaches out there, and Tom isn't the only one, but he's a good coach and his record speaks for itself.
