The auto qualifiers are way out of balance. After 2 or 3 max, the rest of the qualifiers should be based on merit. The larger leagues have no interest in doing that so they can stay fat and happy sending 10:+ runner’s to CCS so they can pat themselves on the back. Changing the date of the meeting 2 years ago was a loud signal to the smaller leagues to sit down and shut up. We heard it loud and clear but why should we accept it? I want to fix the politics in the CCS which is something like little league meets the Boy-Girl Scouts. Last time they were confronted with a proposal to change the system to value merit over the good old boy network of stacked entries for favored leagues they changed the date of the meeting and ran away like (unnecessary word)."<br /><br />That is false. I am a league rep for XC and have always had a fair chance to change any bylaws. You can complain about the current process but until you come up with a fair solution, there will not be a change. Once you do that, you have to get your league coaches to agree to your proposal, then your ADs, then league reps, then BOM etc. It's not a simple process.Albert Caruanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14434646351717864405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-22006506480008780782018-05-06T18:48:29.433-07:002018-05-06T18:48:29.433-07:00@4:50 You talk about fairness and opportunity. That's a choice they've made. They're choosing to be in a much smaller league against a very competitive field. If these athletes wants to be on an "easier" path to the state meet, maybe they should switch schools.<br /><br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-68268598921461448432018-05-06T18:43:37.682-07:002018-05-06T18:43:37.682-07:00And personally, I don't think there is an adva...And personally, I don't think there is an advantage to jogging at your league meet. Like going full out in your league final, even if you’re one of the best in the state (e.g. Scales) because you can’t afford to finish 3rd or outside the AL time vs. coasting to an 8th place finish at SCVAL and being rested for the CCS semis? Not buying what you’re selling and never will. The system is rigged for the leagues with pull at the CCS office. Bad business when you want to advance your best guys to state. Is it fair for a kid to have to run the at large time a week before CCS (meaning he may have to peak just to get in because he is 3rd in his league) when the best guys in other leagues can coast and save themselves for CCS? No, it’s not and therefore the at large argument is invalid when it comes to fairness.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31292861.post-32850426745114407602018-05-06T16:50:56.816-07:002018-05-06T16:50:56.816-07:00@1:40 then why don’t all the leagues agree to just...@1:40 then why don’t all the leagues agree to just send their kids who can make the at-large standard?
