I definitely didn't have the greatest XC season ever, so I don't think people should be talking about me. I'm not concerned with that. What does concern me is that people would insult my future teammates on what is probably the greatest accomplishment of their lives. Maybe you don't think I deserve a scholarship, you're entitled to your opinion. But 4:08 and 4:47 are straight up fast. At least respect their times, if not mine.

Chris is the 5th fastest returner in the nation over 15/16/mile. Allison is the 12th returner. Verdon is top 20 as well. I'm the 9th national returner for 3200/2mile. If none of those are worth money to a college, then I don't know what is.
Additionally, the scholarship (or lack of one) has no physical meaning to us. It doesn't affect our ability to run fast. We run for the love of running, not for some stupid check. Going to such a high level university as all of us are, and running on teams that have competed and won in Pac-12 or Big 12 or the Ivy League, is the highest calling imaginable. If you think we need money or incentives to run fast, then you can pretty much consider yourself ignorant of what we go through and what we represent. Rather than presume to know about our personal matters and hide behind fake internet names, I encourage you to talk to us directly before posting completely untrue information on respectable, well-meaning blog sites. Better yet, run the times yourself! Then talk. Actions speak louder than words.
Thank you to Mr. Caruana and Coach Small (see you out there at Quicksilver soon, I'm sure!) for being courteous and sane and understanding that at the end of the day, we are 17-18 year old kids trying to make decisions that will affect ourselves and our families for the rest of our lives. I can't speak for my 2012 classmates, but I myself have felt frequently too small and inexperienced for the scope of the decision I'm making. I can only hope to be deserving of the honor and the privilege bestowed upon me by the great university and running program that will shape my life.

Percentage of scholarship aid is not determined by a time standard but what school you are attending and where they are in their depth chart.

As a coach who has had many runners continue on to run on scholarship at the NCAA Division 1 level every one of these marks are more than worthy of full financial assistance. 4:08 and 4:47 are amazing times, some of the best in the nation and very deserving of athletic aid.

Yes, Ivy leagues do not offer athletic scholarships as already stated but they do try to give athletes aid in other forms such as academics, etc.

These athletes are choosing the best academic and athletic institutions in America. Personally I am amazed at the accomplishments of these young men and women not only on the track but in the classroom.

To some a full ride is what is important to another it may be graduating from an Ivy League School. Rather then debating who is getting what, or what is "better" lets celebrate the amazing accomplishments of these student-athletes. Not only are they getting into some of the most prestigious academic institutions in America but also with an opportunity to continue running at the highest level for at least another 4 years!

Just a heads up for any question about these Ivy League people. They do not give out athletic scholarships and prefer their athletes to apply early. After a verbal commitment, they are sent "likely letters" from the admissions department if their grades are up to the Ivy League level. Then they are admitted. So at most, it can be a verbal commitment form Ivy Leagues despite being heavily recruited.

Regardless of this pointless debate about scholarships, this is a great list of schools so like Albert said, we need to stay on subject and congratulate all these athletes for their achievements.

Verdon is definitely the best on that list and it's not surprising she's getting money. Waschura/Sturges might get a little bit of money but Stanford/Duke don't give out much scholarship money in general unless the runner is a very high caliber performer.
