Two World Track and Field records set today

First was in the women's 5k as Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia lowered the existing world record to 14:06.65. The previous world record of 14:11.15 was set 12 years ago by Tirunesh Dibaba, also of Ethiopia. That works out to 4:33.1 per mile and 68.3 per lap.

For the men, Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda continued his record fall by lowering the world record in the 10k to a time of 26:11.02. He lowered the previous mark of 26:17.53 that was set in 2005 by Ethiopia's Kenensia Bekele. That works out to 4:13.4 per mile and 63.3 per lap. He also ran the first 5k in 13:07.73 and followed that up with a 13:03.29 second 5k.

Here are both races in full.

If you want to show your runners perfect form, Gidet's looks about the closest I have ever seen.

Is it just me just me? When I see I guy run a 10k in 26:11 ( negative split too ) and a girl run a 14:06 5k I just feel defeated
