Seems like the right call. Glad they did it a day early so kids and coaches can prepare accordingly and avoid the mild stress of waiting to hear then postpone again and again. Nice job, CCS, for implementing a good back-up plan and making decisions proactively. I was worried last week about the approach being too passive, but they've stepped up and managed this well.

Nice work by the CCS. I would like the names of the people who did the leg work on this so they can be put in charge of changing the track rules. Let's hope nothing changes over the next few days and that the AQi stays in the 60s in Salinas.

Assume CCS meant Sunday, NOVEMBER 18, 2018....not 19. 19th is Monday.

Sunday the 18th, not 19th. please correct post.

AQI not looking good for Salinas.

Nighttime through early mornings dont read good AQI's but should return to moderate for late morning and during day. Is supposed to improve throughout next 48 hours

The AQI at the Salinas monitor is only half of the story. Toro is at the end of a small valley and is more protected from the north winds. It would be better to average the Salinas and Carmel Valley stations to get a read on what the actual AQI is at Toro. If the wind turns back from the west, then everything should be fine for race time. Currently, forecast for Sunday is a west wind.

Let’s be honest. Every sport is playing in this area. These games are happening no matter what. So is the race.

CCS Field hockey Championship intended to play in Salinas this morning was moved to Gilroy.

Football is a go.

We were here today and 3 things are going for us:

1) Unlike the rest of the Bay Area, it's actually windy here! And it's clearing up by the day...hopefully it'll be around 130s or lower by tonite.
2) A Junior College League ran here at 8-9AM and everything was fine...it's definitely a lot less smokier here.
3) CCS events weren't cancelled so hopefully we are a go plus at the park there were parties and clueless people BBQ'ing...

Will CCS next year be Disneyland or Gilroy Gardens? Crystal or Toro, because of the move this season

Next year will be at Crystal Springs.

Anyone know where to find CCS results. Did they run?

2 years in a row at Gilroy Gradens is enough!

We all must just be relieved that we got the race in because I have never seen a year where nobody is talking about CCS results and starting the predictions for state.

It looks like the St. Francis boys are finally rounding into shape. The just ran the third fastest time at Toro ever - 79:58 (they own the top 2 team times as well both done last year - 78:41 & 79:30). It also looks like they had a wider 1-5 gap than usual and their typical 5th man didn't score at CCS. That makes their prospects at State look better than expected only a few weeks ago.
