Congrats to Rayna Stanziano and Gabrielle Peterson of NCS who would have clearly won their respective divisions (3 and 5) if they had the chance to run at NCS. They placed 10th and 11th overall and were the first and second NCS finishers at State, respectively.

Congrats on Loic for qualifying for NXN and good luck to all athletes at Footlocker west!

If Jesuit ran faster than St Francis, then why are they ranked behind them?

Good question. I took the places from the combined list posted at recordtiming.com. Teams could be ranked ahead of other teams with faster team times especially if one team has a really fast runner like Jesuit with Matt Strangio.

I particularly love Leah Haley's redemption story. Her NCS race was cancelled due to air quality at the last minute. That meant qualifying to the State Meet was left to the committee of three. Initially, she did not make the committee's list of individual qualifiers. On finding out that Leah was excluded, her coaches appealed successfully. Then...she finished 9th in D3! Redemption! And, comforting to know that "they" got it right.

Amador Valley girls ran short handed but still beat Oakland Tech. Where are they on your list?

Jesuit isn't ranked behind St. Francis, they finished behind them in the all divisions merge. The scores of all boys teams has St. Francis 9th 433, Jesuit 10th 450, BCP 11th 474, Poly LB 12th 475. The individual places show that St. Francis beat Jesuit even though Jesuit won 3 of the 5 individual battles:
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th
St. Francis 28 57 60 113 175
Jesuit 3 52 99 128 168
BCP 31 76 111 123 130
LB Poly 6 86 116 132 135

St. Francis wins on the strength of JP Garcia as their 3rd man! Team time is one thing, but scoring is another. Both Poly and Jesuit had super fast low sticks, but St. francis had the depth through 4.

combined results have Amador Valley girls at 1:39.09 but D1 results show Amador at 1:37.28 & ahead of Dougherty Valley. If you add up their times you will see 1:37.28 is correct. Just thought I would let you know.

It's natural to take things for granted but mad props to Liam for his fastest time of the day and his State Championship. Way to rep Nor Cal and best of luck at NXN nationals.

combined girls left off Amador Valley #2 at 19:06.0. Adding scores she displaces 3 Oakland Tech girls & 4 Dougherty Valley girls. Bring new scores Oakland Tech 1173 31st Amador Valley 1196 33rd & Dougherty Valley 1197 34th

Enough with the Leah Haley stories. Yes, we get it, the committee overlooked her when she deserved to be included and that was a blunder. People make mistakes, get over it.

I'm sure the committee was pressed for time and trying to get all of the correct picks in was probably a tough process. The committee had little time to get the selections in considering the tight turnaround after the NCS meet was canceled.

How about praise for the committee getting it right and picking the Branson girls to advance to state where they finished in 8th place, no one else seemed to see that coming based on how Branson performed earlier in the season.

People on here sure love to complain and be negative, how about we focus on the positive aspects, namely that northern California teams and individuals ran incredibly well in Fresno.

Given that my post is the only one regarding Leah Haley in this thread, I feel compelled to respond to 'Anonymous November 26, 2018 8:21 PM'. In particular, the push back given and the inference that perhaps the post was negative ("get over it", "People on here sure love to complain and be negative"). Contrary to the perception of 'Anonymous November 26, 2018 8:21 PM', the post was intended to present positives: 1) positive: Leah Haley overcame the potentially mentally disruptive notion of missing the State meet after an outstanding season, 2) positive: the process worked in the end, were she was allowed to run. Those are positives. And, those are things worth posting about.

The only negativity seems to coming from Anonymous November 26, 2018 8:21 PM!
