California's Early Season Top 10 Individual Boys

You can check out my article at ca.milesplit.com at the link below which includes several Northern California runners. If you think there are other runners that deserve mention like Las Lomas senior Preston Norris, please feel free to list them in the comment section.

I love MS for all the stats but for the life of me I can’t understand how a kid with PR’s of 4:24; 9:16; and 15:31 is ranked higher than a kid with PR’s of 4:13; 9:15; and 15:26. GO bias I guess.

I am the one that put that list together. I am sure there are other runners that I could have ranked as well but at a certain point, you have to go with ten runners and post. Such articles are subjective and definitely not perfect. The tool that I linked in the article allows you to compare athletes and I will tell you that it's very rare for one athlete to beat another athlete every single race. During the season, you will definitely see runners that were not mentioned in the article take down my current "top 10". That is why they run the races.

Cross Country and track are not the same sport, I for one have never seen a track with a hill on it. While comparing track times may give you an idea what one's potential in XC is, it is far from exact.
Many a star at the mile get humbled at 5k. IMHO

I agree with that as well. The track speedsters sometimes lose to the cross country grinders in the fall.

I agree that Preston deserves a nod. I hope both Preston and Conner go for it this weekend at the DLS Invitational. It will be fun to see this match-up.

I think Christopher Pearson is also a contender.

Yes on the last comment. and Christopher Pearson from Dublin had an amazing sophomore track and field season. Definitely another runner to watch.

After today’s race at early bird, I would add the kid from St Francis to the watch list.
