Most impressive command of a race goes to Gomez. He had plenty left in the tank as he crossed the line first in the 800. MacKenzie’s 3200 was electric as he put the hammer down in a stacked race! Best double goes to Colonna, making the pace in the 1600 and coming back with an impressive 3200. Biggest surprises: no wins for Mari, MBR not qualifying in the 3200, and Scales missing out on the 800, his best distance.

Is this thing on? I’ll start. Estrella coming back to qualify in the 3200 after missing the 1600 at the CCS final. Fun to watch and well deserved.

SJ girls 1600 get's a WOW on those times.

I feel sorry for the girls in the SJS. They have to go in thinking their only shot is to run the at large when they have 3 of the top 5 1600 meter studs in the state lined up in the same race with them. O'Keefe, Denner & Denner are machines and some talented runners get left behind out of the SJS.

At CCS, the biggest positive surprise in the distances had to be Owen MacKenzie winning the 3200. He wasn't in my top 5 pre-race prediction, but ran something like a 15-sec PB to take the win. Impressive!

Brewer Injured?

Coach Tim said...

Anna Mokkapati ran 7.5 laps with one shoe. That's pretty impressive.

Any videos of the NCS finals?

Albert, did people lose interest or is there something wrong with the comments?

Well, you were off on both 800 winner predictions. Which finish surprised you more, The boys or the girls?

The biggest surprise for me was Alyssa Brewer taking 2nd place in the 800 at NCS. Everybody is entitled to an off-day and perhaps she was injured or sick. Hoping she'll win her third state crown in Clovis in a couple of weeks.
