North Coast Section news

The divisions for the 2018 Cross Country season have been posted:

Last night at the Arcadia Invitational, we had several additions to the NCS all-time lists.
The following link has not been updated for about a year but for the most part is still accurate. Cooper Teare's 8:41.46 as well as his 3:59.80 should be updated. The 3:59.80 is from the Sacramento Meet of Champions although he does have a converted mile time that is faster.

Redwood runners Liam Anderson and Gillian Wagner both made their way onto the top 10 lists of the 3200m with their 8:52.74 and 10:14.11 respective times. If there are other marks that should be included as well, please let us know in the comment section below.

Dublin goes from one of the favorites, along with St. Francis, next year in D2 at state to just another NorCal team led to the SS slaughter in D1. Too bad.

Dublin just beat all comers in the 4x1600m relay and gave Great Oak all they wanted in the DMR. Last I checked Great Oak was the class of Division 1. Beyond that, Dublin and Saint Francis both would have been just fine last year in the Division 1 race. With 2800 students at the school Division 1 is the appropriate division for them and they are more than prepared to compete well at that level.

Great Oak chose to just focus on the relay events while the Dublin runners did both relays and individual events. I think it would have turned out much different in the distance medley relay had their runners been just as fresh as the Great Oak runners.

Dublin loses two pretty good seniors but will return two really good runners and their depth should fill out a pretty good lineup once again next year.

Dublin has an enrollment in line with all of the large powerhouse D1 SS schools, and their enrollment is only going up so no matter what gets said about them being " just another NorCal team led to the SS slaughter in D1" it totally misses the point. With how well the program has been doing in recent years, it is only a matter of time before Dublin is a perennial top 5 team at state in D1. This is good for NorCal.

There is no doubt that Dublin will represent well at state in D1 next year. Even with losing a few of their top guys, they have the depth to get on the podium. The question is would it be better for NorCal XC to have 2 strong teams battling for the D2 top spot or split those teams and have one go up against the SS giants? Second question: do the sections think about that and the resulting impact on the number of slots they get per division when they make these moves?

Can anyone explain to me why De La Salle and Carondelet are not in D1? Or are those enrollment numbers listed already doubled since they are single-gender schools?

Whatever their number is, it's already doubled as single-gender schools.
